I make little steak sandwiches (with simmered then pureed steak, sometimes onion, pureed sweet potato in bread and cooked in a pan to flatten and toast) which he loves, I freeze them and give them to him frozen. He chews on them to soften and eat.

Excuse my ignorance - but do you puree the steak, make a mini toasted sandwich (of sorts) and then freeze?  Is it okay to give frozen meat?

I'm not judging - just trying to find different ideas for my DS - he HATES being spoonfed and I'm kinda getting sick of cleaning up the floor, walls and surrounding furniture of flung pureed food!!!  :P

That's a great imagery traceyj!

Yep, I cook it and then puree it. then I put it in between 2 pieces of bread and put in a hot pan with olive oil. Then use a spatula to help flatten it down. With pureed sweet potato in particular it holds together well.

I don't think there's a problem with freezing it. it's like cooking a beef casserole then freezing.  :)

Interestingly my DS is much more into being spoon fed lately, which is just as well, the carers at day care today spent all day feeding him by spoon  ::)
