I was just going to say that you did NOT fail, but I see everyone has done that already
DD was so very hard to bf, and when I was pregnant with Leo I was a little worried. I was told I have 'flattish' nipples and indeed Rory took 4 days to attach so I was worried Leo wouldn't. We used nipple shields with DD for the first 3 months and when starting to feed both babies it took well and truly a month for the toe-curling pain to go away. Perhaps the idea of short nipples not protruding out enough could be an issue??
I agree with getting in contact with the ABA, even if at this stage all they give you is a sense that they are there for if the need arises.
