My son is 3.5 months, exclusively BF. He was doing great right up till just before 3 months. He was always pretty gassy and never had what I would consider normal looking BF poo, but he was happy and slept well so we thought he was fine. All of a sudden things have taken a turn for the worse. He is crankier during the day, has a hard time going to sleep for naps and bedtime, has crying fits up to 40 minutes sometimes. The doctor thought relfux and had me try cereal in his bottle which i didn't really want to do, but that seemed to make things worse. I think the painful gas is the worst part for him. They tested his stool 3 times now for blood and have found nothing. Can he still be allergic to something without having blood in his stool?
It could also possibly be teething, but I don't know why he has never had normal poos. They are kind of runny, changing from yellow (sometimes even orangish looking) to bright green to darker brownish green, never seedy like they should be and smell like rotten eggs whenever he goes. I have tired going without dairy, but haven't seen much if any improvement (though granted the first 2 weeks I didn't know about the hidden dairy stuff) and I have only been avoiding the hidden dairy also for about 3 days now. Should I see improvement right away or will it take longer if he has an allegry? I don't know what to do. I don't think his ped. thinks its food related and maybe he is right but I just don't know. He also has dry skin patches they seem to be getting worse, they used to be just on his cheeks by his ears, now they are on his arms, legs and chest. They feel kind of like alligator skin or something. They are bleeding or anything but I have noticed that he has more of them lately...Any ideas??
