That routine is fab - just goes to show how much simpler life could be once my ds takes a little bit of solids and can manage 3 hrs A time  :). We are nearly there at 2h 45 min and 3 hrs before bed - but that makes the feeds such a mess.

oh, I meant to say thanks!...it took a loooong time to get there, and it's so much easier to only have 2 naps...except that they quit napping at the same time  ::)

Hi! thought I'd hop on too.... ;D
Sounds like a tummy ache to me ?the raw apple maybe :-\

Have you considered using baby rice mixed with apple??? Lots of Iron in the rice, babes need the increase in iron as they become more active....

We steam all of our fruit, (and veg), adn use the water left over for blending.

To get an idea of the right consistency I bought a little jar of apple puree, and realised that I was not blending the apple enough.... made heaps of difference

Persevere, it's new to your LO and he won't really be sure of what's going on to start with....
have you got a little list of what foods to introduce and when???
you might even find something on here on this board

good luck,
Annax

Thanks Anna!! Actually, I gave him some baby rice for dinner and he just LOVEEEEED it!! He even took the spoon out of my hand and started putting it in his mouth.  He fussed when the spoon had no rice!! hee ;D So, he likes rice, but not fruit!! Not a good sign for his figure!! Just joking here!!  ;) Anyway, I also think that the raw apple was not a good idea! :-\ He liked the cooked one much better!!

I'm going to start with apple for three days and wait to see how his body reacts.  If he's ok with it (no allergy), then I'll move to banana for another three days, then pear, then papaya, then peach, and then mango!! I love mango, I hope he likes it too!!

I've been reading that banana is one of the fruits that you don't have to cook, is that right? But, pears and peach yes, right? Mango and papaya, I think I'll do it raw.  I can't imagine eating any cooked mango or papaya!! yuk! ::)  What do you think?

Sounds like he's on a roll with his solids! So cute, taking the spoon from you! I know you don't have to cook banana, but I'm not sure on the rest (I buy the jars - no time at all with these two  :P ) I'm curious to know though, I did buy some mangoes, maybe Spencer will like them too.

Well, I think I'm going to try raw mangoes!! I'll let you know how it goes.  If the mango is tender and ripe, then there should be no trouble in getting them into a smooth puree!!

yep! banana raw I gave well mashed from 6 month, (i think) she started solids at 5months..... mango fine raw but mash well. Eva ddin't like though can be rich on tummy!
So pleased he's loving solids though, fry to make thihngs quite liqudy too ie put soe formula into the mago , sounds gross but witht he familiar taste of the formula and smooth consistency of the food, works a treat. Istill use that trick on Eva when she has an "I don't want to eat" day! ;)

papaya, sorry i don't know!
have fun

Hi Alexa.
So glad to hear its going well. When it comes to soft fruit it is fine to just puree. But definitely cook fruits like apples or pears. My lo just loves pureed nectarine! And if your lo is funny about new tastes, you could mix them with the baby rice - makes it sooo much tastier.

Thanks guys!! Anna, that's a good tip about the formula.

One more question....Do you let your lo's play with the food or are you strict about this?
My lo has been making a MESS with the food.  He wants to grab the spoon, and then starts hitting the high chair with it full of food, so all the food flies around the house (of course my dog loves this!) But, I don't want to start a bad habit, but on the other side, I want him to feel that eating is fun! So what to do?? How do you handle this?

ah the eternal quetsion Alexa.

I'd let the LO play with the food in attempts to eat IYKWIM, but not as a play with food concept. that being said he did gte into a bad habit of playing with a few key toys while on his high chair but in some ways I was grateful for the distraction as then I could feed him.

So I'd say let him explore not throw food, be firm but not strict he is a teeny weenie baby :D
9 and 6, oh boy!

Mukta,
Which kind of key toys did your lo play with?

My lo gets the spoon out of my hands, and it becomes a toy!! If I take it away, he starts shouting and fussing!!  :-\ So may be I should give him another toy and not the spoon??

Use 2 spoons - one for him and one for you - a toy and a feeding tool. That works for us.

I just let him play to be honest, though  :). He doesn't understand he's making a mess. When he does that will be a different matter!!

I use three spoons...one for each of her hands and one for me! She makes alot of mess, but I really don't expect her to know the difference yet. I think with Masyn I let her play with her food (to a point) until she was over a year old, then I would just get her down if she started to play with it, because that usually meant she was done. My dog loves feeding time too....problem is he's a St. Bernard and can reach her tray and fingers to lick the food right off  :P

;D It gets even more fun when they try to sneak the dog some food...Boomer tries to behave, but really, if someone is offering him food  ::)
