Baby suddenly off her food.
« on: March 18, 2009, 13:40:11 pm »
My daughter is 15 weeks old and up to a few days ago has been taking 5 6oz bottles per day no problem. For the last couple of days though she hasn't wanted to finish her bottles so it has been a real struggle getting her to take more than 4ozs. She has had a cold but it is practically gone now and hadn't affected her appetite. She sleeps well - through the night and has good naps, so I don't know why she's not taking it all she just doesn't seem interested. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it normal for them to go off their food a bit? Any advice greatly appreciated.

My daughter is 18 weeks old and has also reduced the amount of milk she drinks.  She used to drink 5-6ozs but now it is a struggle to get 4ozs in her.  She has no interest in it. She would rather bite the nipple and push it out with her tongue.  I think it is normal for food intake to fluctuate.  We are currently on a 3.5 hour EASY working onto a 4 hour EASY-hoping this will increase her intake.  If you post your EASY, I am sure someone will look at it for you.

Thanks scucci1979. I've just been reading the thread  "I'm going insane with 3.5-mo hardly eating, HELP!". I hadn't noticed it earlier but it seems that it's quite common for them to do this at around 3 - 4 months. I hope it doesn't last too long though as every feed is a battle and she keeps spraying me with milk! She's already on a 4 hour easy so I don't know what else I can do really.

My Lo is 16wks tomorrow and it is a struggle to get her to take 2-3oz per feed - like you know smell of SMA formula as more goes on me than in her mouth - lol!

I take (small) comfort from the fact that she is lively (VERY) and she is having wet nappies and am hoping it is a phase she is going through
