Night Waking- is it a habit now?
« on: March 23, 2009, 09:01:43 am »
Good morning

DD is 5 months old and was a fantastic napper and sleeper....i emphasise WAS!! She had been having some tummy trouble, not sure  what it is yet as we are waiting on a feeding clinic apt. The past 7 nights she has been waking at around 3 am, initially it was because of trapped wind and pain. then because she was awake for so long (over 1 hour) she'd get hungry so I would end up feeding her and she would take 5-6 oz. Now she just seems to be waking wether she's in pain or not. So on the forth night when she had no pain we tried and tried o get her back to sleep (must admit to some accediential parenting ::))  ::)The fifth night, I fed her immediately and she went back tosleep but woke an hour later. And the last few nights are the same. LAst night took 7 oz at 4, slept, awake again at 5, I tried the dummy, ignoring her (but she has a 21 month old brother who she wakes when she wails), I eventually picked her up and rocked her to sleep (blush!!). She is sooooo happy to see me when I come into her room, cooing and kicking and beaming smiles at me. WHat do I do with her?? She was a textbook baby.....where has she gone???

Here's yesterdays EASY

07:00 Up & play
08:00 6oz Bottle
09:00 Sleep for 1 hour
10:00-11:00 Play
11:00 7oz bottle
12:15 Sleep for 45 mins
1:15 few tsp solids
14:45 Sleep 45 mins
15:30 7oz bottle
15:30-17:00 Activity
17:00-17:30 nap 30 mins
18:45 Bottle 8 oz
19:00 Sleep
19:45 Wake 15 mins
23:30 DF 4oz
04:00 7oz awake for 15 mins after bottle
05:00 Awake
05:30 Sleep
07:15 Awake

I know that her waking after going to bed was because she was ot. Just not sure how to handle the middle of the night one. Sussh Pat she finds funny cause she's not that upset???

Any advice greatly appreciated

fran xx

I think she's having a crib party because she needs more A time so she's finding it at night. :) I would lengthen that first A time by 15min (so 2hr 15min A time) and see if she naps longer. That second nap of 45min may mean UT as well but I bet the third one is when she's starting down the OT road.

How has her first bottle of the day been now that she's taking a bottle at night? She may be going through her 6 month growth spurt, is she close to 6 months? This usually only lasts a few days though and then things return to normal.

Thanks for that. I'll try adjusting her A time today. She's only just 5 months today so prob not growth spurt. First bottle of the day is between 4 and 6 oz depending on when she looks for it. Will see how it goes today and thanks again
