Glad everyone is getting a lot out of this thread.  We're going to try dropping a bottle today... wish me luck!

Me too    I gave her some, she loved it (which is odd because she won't eat anything else cold) She had a couple of tbsps this afternoon and so far no complaints! (and this whole 3 sippy cups a day is so much easier too...fits into our routine so much better!)

YAY!!!  I love yogurt too and LOVE that my lo's love it.  It is sooo good for them!

ckcole-good luck with dropping the bottle!  Let us know.

Mashimaro-Around 7-8 months, I think lo's need between 22-28 oz of formula and the rest solids.  You can always slowly increase solids and decrease the middle of the day bottles?

ckcole - Good Luck!

Mashi - Spencer was starting to eat less at her 11:00, 3:00 and bedtime feeds, so I took the hint! She now takes 3 - 8oz cups and gets another 4-6 oz in her cereal. I was worried about messing her up, but she thinks it's great! ( and she eats 3 meals of maybe a half a cup and one snack)

I think I am going to just go for it tomorrow. It's only been the last two days consistently that DS has refused his 2nd and 3rd bottle but I was sooooo frustrated both days that I figure it's worth a shot.  I'm also going to be very adventurous and give him some ReadyBrek (it's oats ground up to a powder type substance) although I was hell-bent determined to keep him off of gluten until 12 months.  So, a big step for me!  I figure he will need the extra milk and extra food if he's dropping a bottle, so wish me luck!

Good luck mashimaro.
So far so good today for us.  He took 6 oz this morning, about 6 this afternoon and I'm hoping he'll take 8 for his nighttime bottle. I thought he would have wanted more this afternoon, but I guess he was happy enough with his solids. at 11am.  I also upped his solids a bit to compensate for the dropped bottle, and I introduced yogurt today... which he LOVED! Hopefully it agrees with him.

Can I ask a real numpty-question please?  Sorry to hijack.  DS has bottles at 7,11,4 and 645ish plus a DF.   He has solids at 8ish, and before the 11 and 4 bottles.

So...would it be best to drop the 11am bottle? or drop the4pm one and, instead, have a snack at 5ish? ???

Thank you!! :-*

It's really up to you!!  I would probably move the 11AM bottle a little later, like maybe after lunch and then drop the 4PM bottle and give a snack.

HTH!

Thanks Judy!   So, would this be ok:   7 bottle, 8 solids, 11ish solids, 1ish bottle, 4ish solids, snack 5ish and 645 bottle?

Hi bennysmama!  Sorry, I know you told me your name once!  :-X

Benny and Madi are very close in age and this is what we have been doing.

Roughly
7:30AM-8oz bottle
8:30-cereal and fruit with sippy (probably won't drink much but that's okay)
11:30AM-lunch
Afternoon bottle right before nap
4pm-snack (yogurt/cheese)
5:30pm-Dinner
6:30pm-8oz bottle

I like to give evening solids as late as possible!

Does that make sense?
 :)

Thanks Judy, that makes perfect sense.  We started today and, when he didn't get a bottle after his 1130 meal, Benny's expression was pure "huh??!".   Then he scarfed down 9 fl oz before his nap!! (9ozs is LOADS for him!).

Yoghurt is a hit here too :).  I bought a big pot of plain organic yoghurt and mixed in fruit.  Yum!!

One more question please Judy:  how do you serve the cheese for the afternoon snack?  As finger food?

Hi Emma!  So cute about poor Benny's expression without the after lunch milk!!  I've also found that Madi took a better afternoon nap with some warm milk in her belly!

For the cheese, I usually give her little bits to pick up as finger food while I spoon feed her a yogurt.  Some days I give her a cracker.  She likes to have little bits of food to feed herself while we are feeding her.  ;) ;)
