Hello,

I have just stopped breastfeeding my DS and am unsure about how much he should be taking in formula.
he is 6 weeks old and weighs roughly 9lb 7oz
he will have 6oz every 3ish ours but it just seems soooooooooooo much

Hello and Congrats on your lo!!

Typically babies drink 2.5x their body weight.  Here is a link with more info that might help!

It doesn't seem a huge amount to me. Does lo spit up a lot after feeding this is a sign of over eating? Are they gaining weight too fast? If not I would tend to give pretty much what they want.

If your lo is happily taking that amount, not spitting up loads of milk, not in any discomfort, I would say that your lo is doing fine.

The 2.5 - 2.7 oz per llb of body weight is a guideline, and some lo's drink more and some lo's drink a lot less.

How many feeds is your lo having in a 24 hour period?  How does your lo sleep at night?

My DD was on larger feeds during the day when she was the same age, and started sleeping through the night, so it was her way of tanking up to keep her full for the night.
