symptoms of an egg protein intolerance or allergy
« on: March 29, 2009, 00:16:47 am »
I'm fairly certain my MSPI girl has an intolerance or allergy to eggs as well.  I have thought this before but wasn't certain, but I baked some muffins this week and they had eggs in the batter.  Well, dd has been spitting up more and her cheeks have this scaly bright pink patches on them.  Also, her eyes were puffy for the first part of the day today.  Has anyone experienced this type of reaction or heard of it?  Is she too young to have a true egg allergy?
As stated in my other post, I'm trying to narrow down why she still has blood in her poop.  I'm definitely going totally egg free, but was curious if anyone else has experienced this.  Sometimes I feel like I'm floating on an island out here w/ my sensitive little girl.  ???

It is very possible at this age to be allergic to eggs.  I would definitely keep her away from all forms of egg and inform your doctor of her reaction.  My son was tested for egg allergy at 13 months and has to carry and Epi-Pen for it, and his other allergies too.  Definitely inform your doctor though of this.  He may get her tested when she gets older.

My son had "eczema" all the time. i was told by his dr that he had sensitive skin and was given many lotions and potions . Nothing helped. at 13 months he was given his mmr shot and had a severe fever, red scaly cheeks and generally ill for about a week. He was finally sent to an allergist and waas tested for egg allergy.

Since going egg free his skin has cleared up. Now he only gets red cheeks when he is teething.

hth.
