Mainly, I lengthen his first A, that's the easiet to lengthen with my lo! If you get more A, then naps are shorter! But, if your DS is sleeping 11 hrs a night, I wouldn't change your routine, you know. It is always great to have good naps during the day because then you have some Y time.  If you have shorter naps, then you'll have less Y time! Enjoy it while it lasts!!  :P You will soon be moving to 1 nap and you'll miss the other Y time you have right now!

Oh, no...I don't want to change my routine right now, I have just gotten it to work!  I was just curious, that's all.  We had another good day!!!  I was a little nervous because I didn't wake him from nap 1.  I was going to be out in the afternoon and wasn't sure I'd make it home before nap time, so I let him wake on his own.  I did manage to get home before nap 2, so here's what today was like:
6:20 wake
9:35 - 10:55 nap 1
2:20 - 3:20 nap 2

A 1 hr and a 1hr20m...same as yesterday!!!

Hello ladies,

I've been following Lucy's thread and now this one tried to read it all, but I so confused right now I really need some help, but I don't think I should start such a similar thread...or maybe I should what do you think? :-\

So, from what I understood here, babyboy your ds is getting 2.20 of day sleep and 3.30 A times? I thought 9 months los were supposed to be getting two 1.50 naps and a little more a time from what I've been reading...!!!??? there's a chart here at the forum that says it, isn't there?  ???

My 9m DD has been doing two 1.40 naps or one 2.0 + 1.10...her A times are 3.20 - 3.40 -3.40...and she's sleeping 10-11 hrs at night, BUT: waking several times!!!!!!

So I'm wondering what is going wrong ??? I thought I should increase A time but now after reading this thread I think I should shorten it... ???

Also, she looks very tired to me, maybe OT? If so, how short should I cut her A times?

Help please!!

xx Luara

Hi Luara!! (((HUGS)))
It's not about what other babies get....It's about what your baby needs! So if you have read that some babies get 3 hrs naps + 11 hrs naps, that's fine, but that may not be what your lo needs! Every baby is diff, so we need to figure out what each baby needs when it comes to sleep.  Does this make sense?

I think it would be a good idea to start a new thread with your routine and your multiple NWs.  Once you start the thread, come here and add the link so we can jump over there and help you out.  What do you say?

Toni---I will pop in on your thread!

Luara---Hi!  My son is now actually 10 mos, he was 9 when I started this thread, and I agree with Alexa...they are definitely not all the same.  If they were, E.A.S.Y. would be REALLY easy, lol!  He always was on the lower side of A times, though.  I think the range for 8-10 mos. is 3-4 hrs, so it can be anywhere in there!  He can do 4 hrs before bedtime on many nights.  Post your thread when you get it, and I'll pop in!

As for us, today was a little wacky...We only had a 10hr45m night last night.  1 hr AM nap, PM nap I realized I forgot to turn on white noise, so I went in at 20 min...MISTAKE!!!  Popped right up!  That was at 2:15...APOP back to sleep, but took me until 3:10.  He did sleep until 4:20, so that  was good.  I thought I'd do a later bedtime, but he's been a bit fussy, so bed at 7:20 it is!!!

Luara---I'm not sure.

Uh oh!  Went to sleep at 7:30 (was only 3 hr10m A from pm nap)  Woke at 9:05 crying.  I had to go lay him back down, but settled quickly.  Woke again at 10:45 moaning, settled himself.  Then again at 12:45 moaning, settled himself.  Woke for the day at 5:45 (only 10hr15m!)  Chatted until 6:30, when he began crying, so I got him up and fed him.  So.....

I keep my usual moring A time (3.25 A) right?  And I wake him at 1 hr, right?  Do you think EW is due to not enough A before bed since the pm nap went later than usual?  HELP!

Kara, sorry about those crappy naps and crappy night!! Whenever this happens again, try to go for a walk before the am nap so you can stretch it as close to its usual time as possible.  So go for a walk in the pram where your lo will have little stimulation and little physical activity so he wont' get tired.  If he goes to sleep, let him do so for 15 min and then have normal nap time.

How is it going now?

Luara, i'll look for your post and add the link.  You just copy and paste it and that's it! Toni, i'll jump in your thread later today.  I've got to run now! I'm at work and I need to get home now.  I work from 7.30 am - 9 am, (1.5 hrs haha, lucky me) and it's almost 9 am here.  So I just want to get home to my lo!!

Here's luara's post.  http://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=151085.0  I see Charmie is helping you!! She's great!! :-* :-*

So this means he would have a longer A than usual?  to get to his normal nap time?  Of course, it's different every day, but usually around 9:45 ish.  I read this too late, and he just fell asleep at 9:05, which is 3hr20m A.  I don't know how today will go, but supposing I get another EW tomorrow, should I begin to try and extend that first A from 3hr15m to 3.5A?

No, I'm still going for 2, although I think he's beginning the transition!  So...weird today!
Nap 1 9:05 - 9:35 ---only 30 min, woke chatting, began to cry after 5m, so I went in and tried to resettle.  He then began singing and chatting, so I left him there to see what would happen.  Fell asleep again at 10:40.  I'm going to wake him at 11:30, and now I'm scared the PM nap will be too late!  I thought he was OT at first because of the 10hr15m night and the EW, but since he played for an hour and then went back to sleep, now I'm wondering if it was UT?  Would LOVE to hear everyone's thoughts on this!!!

If he had a crib party in the middle of the nap, then it sounds like UT!  :-\

So this means he would have a longer A than usual?  to get to his normal nap time? That's what I do when I have an EW.  I leave my lo in his cot until his official wake up time (7/7.30 am), and then I go for a walk so I can stretch his A until 11 am (his usual am nap).  I do this so my day doesn't get pushed too early.  If I move my lo's naps too early, I would end up with a 6 pm bedtime, and our usual bedtime is at 8 pm, so no way I'll go for a 6 pm bedtime.  Also, if you offer an am nap too close to wake up when having an EW, then your baby may start relying on it as an extension of his nightsleep, so there is no point in sleeping in, iykwim?
Of course, it's different every day, but usually around 9:45 ish.  I read this too late, and he just fell asleep at 9:05, which is 3hr20m A.  I don't know how today will go, but supposing I get another EW tomorrow, should I begin to try and extend that first A from 3hr15m to 3.5A? If you get another EW, go for a walk and let your lo drop off for 15/20 min if he wants.  If he doesn't fall asleep, try to put him down as close to 9.45 am as possible.
