Weaning DF
« on: May 08, 2009, 12:38:34 pm »
Hi!

My DD is 5 mos old today and I've decided to wean her off the DF as she only drinks 3.5 - 4 oz in the morning (after going 8.5h without eating).  I think I saw somebody on here saying you have to move DF forward every couple of days?  But Tracy's books say to take 1 oz of DF and add that oz to the morning bottle.  I like the first method better, because it's hard to get her to eat anything more.

So do I bring her DF forward by about 15 min every 3 days?  Or every 5 days?  She's asleep by 7:30 (usually) and we do DF at 10:30.  How far forward do we bring it eventually?  Do you still offer DF after she's only been asleep for 1h or so?

Thanks for your replies!

Hello Barbara,

Have you seen this post in our FAQ's Section?  http://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=54662.0

Also, some lo's do find it difficult to take the extra oz's during the day, but as they get older they will gradually start to take more.

Thanks Paula!  :)

I must have missed it.  So I guess it's a combination of taking of oz and doing DF earlier.  I will give that a try.

The strange thing is she can drink 7oz, but just never in the morning.  :-\

Good luck.  Keep us posted on how you get on.

Maybe once the DF has gone, you will notice her take more in the morning.

I know with my DD though, she was never one to want to eat first thing in the moring.  I always had to let her wake up a bit first say for 20 mins to half an hour before feeding her.  She would then take the feed a lot better.
