Activity time suggestions for a 3.5 month old
« on: May 09, 2009, 19:45:51 pm »
Hi Moms
What are some ideas for activities for my 3.5 month old and approximately how much "A" should she get?

Check out the link...gives approximate times.  For 3 months its says its about 1 hour 20 to 1 hour 30.  Whatever your LO can manage!

At 3.5 months some activities we did were:
1.  Looked at a few toys one at a time.  She liked to just lie and stare at them (Sulley from Monster Inc, a butterfly, a rattle).
2.  I read her very simple books (Each peach pear plum, Goodnight moon, Babys ABC),  I know it sounds mad but she loved them and now she will sit and listen to books for AGES and will independently look through books on her own.  Great for being out and about.
3.  Singing songs!  LOTS!!
4.  Musical toys (her favourite was a wind up tv that played a tune while the picture scrolled and the mobile in her crib)
5.  Sitting in her chair (had three wee toys that hung down)

Hope thats helpful!!

Thanks!  Sounds like what I've been doing.
But as I looked on the site more, I'm thinking that my lo might be ready for 3.5 EASY time and then slowly moving to 4 hour EASY.  I read the post about the time to transition and it sounds like she needs it.  She's 3.5 months and I am breastfeeding.

Yeah it was about this age we started transferring to 3.5 hour EASY and were on 4 hours at just over 4 months!  I'm bf too and it worked out great.  Good luck with the transition!

Definitely read books, my DD had a firm favourite by 5 months and is a real bookworm still, never too early to get them interested in reading and once they know the story well you can also get the audio CDs and they can listen in the car or in their rooms, great for their listening and understanding skills  :) Leorah also liked being able to look out of the window, or going for walks sat up in her pushchair and being carried around the house/garden in a sling so she could be part of the action  ;)
