Hugs.

Eczema is quite common in babies and sometimes it has nothing to do with our parenting skills.  Is his chest the only area that is dry and patchy?  What about the creases behind the knees, elbows or inside of leg?

DD has eczema and I know that it because of her allergy to certain food (well more like certain seasonings - soy sauce) so I learn to avoid that in my cooking.  DS also gets eczema but it usually manifests when he is teething.  His dry patches are mostly on his hands & chin where his saliva touches his skin.

Do you think he may be teething?

Hugs for you and your lo! My ds has had eczema since 2 weeks old (he's 7mo now) and it's no fun! We've controlled it pretty well with an aggressive moisturizing routine. He used to have it just about everywhere, now he only gets occassional flare ups on his cheeks and hands. There's a thread on the health, medical and special needs board called 'Eczema...' I posted our routine there and lots of others have posted theirs too.
Good luck, and if you have any other questions hopefully we can help! :)

I was wondering about the drooling too since it seems to be on the chest area.  Does she drool a lot?

Hi thanxs for replys, well the doctor agrees it is eczema and has given us big tub of E45 for now. So will see how it goes , It is only on his chest and tummy no signs of it in the usauall places like creases of arms, legs and elbows as yet, so im hoping the cream will sort it out.

Im sure he must be teething as he puts all toys to his mouth and bite down on them but doesnt show signs of it like drooling lots so i wouldnt really think it was that.

Ive come to the conclusion its down to family history i knew it was possible he may of got it but he didnt for all this time so was just really surprised that its come up now im glad of the advise and threads thanx alot
