Wheat Allergy???
« on: May 19, 2009, 13:08:31 pm »
My lo had a new cereal for the first time 2 weeks ago and came out in hives all over.  He had weetabix at nursery today and the same happened.  The only common ingredient is wheat (maybe gluten-will have to check weetabix box).  Is this a fairly common reaction?

Wheat is high up on the list of allergens, along with dairy, eggs, nuts, etc.  I would definitely bring this to your doctor's attention, and in the meantime would avoid anything containing wheat.  Could be gluten related, gluten is in other grains such as barely.  If he's had anything like that before with no problems then perhaps it is just the wheat.
