Wow - part 3 - these babies really should have got the hang of EASY by now!!

Yeah J did get back to sleep. He nodded off and 2.40pm and I woke him at 4.30pm to preserve bedtime. But he was soooo sleepy and kept trying to put himself back to sleep on my shoulder. So nice in a way as he just won't really let me do things like that anymore. So put him to bed at 7.45 to hopefuly compensate.

Fingers crossed for no 5.50am wake ups!!

Thank goodness our GI appointments are coming. J always gains weight too - often stops for a few weeks but then gains just enough to stop him falling his centiles. Still with everything that has happened lately I don't think they are going to 'not believe' me about him still having issues.

Grrr - having bottle issues today. Funny night too - went to sleep easily at 7.40pm woke at 12.30am and I didn't check the time so just got up and fed him 5oz. Wouldn't usually do this - I'd usually try and resettle if it wasn't after 2am. But then he woke crying at 5am and I desperately didn't want him up at 5am so fed him 4oz and he slept until 7am. Heard him stir at 6am but silent until 7am then. But then refused his morning bottle, only only took 2oz at 9.30am before his nap.

So.... buggered up his night calories again  :P. I think he is actually waking due to teeth and reflux. He has been fluxing loads this morning even with no milk and threw up all of his solids this morning as well. He had done really well with pear, a few cheerios and toast. He had finished and then started choking and retching and the whole lot came up  :-X. Don't know if he choked on some solids 'hidden' in their or if it was a reflux choke. The last few days he has eaten a little fromage frais and I'm wondering if that is flaring his reflux?

Anyway - onwards and upwards.

Hey Charm - actually we ARE on quite a good routine most of the time  :P.

Bit of work to do to iron out the EWs and, of course, ongoing bottles and food issues.

But I never believed this was possible 3 months ago.

And yes, it does give me a little more time to chat  :) :).

Until he changes it of course  ::).

Liz, what is your routine looking like these days?  I just can't seem to get H on something that works! Don't know if it's OT/UT or what!!  Think I'm going back to 3 hr, 1 hr nap, 3.5 hr, hope to high heaven a 1.5 hr nap, then 3.5 to bed.  I had to APOP a 10 min snooze this am at 8:30 because I don't think he went back to bed at 5:30 this am  :'( And boy was he getting crabby!

And I'm already in a foul mood. Dh just woke up and decided to go golfing.  I've been up since 5:30, got up for 30 min last night with H about 2:45, he slept ALL night and didn't get up until 9.  He has to work tonight so I'm sure he'll come home and nap.  I've got house cleaning to do, stressing about bills and work (which I'm working tomorrow night). Oh, I could go on and on but I think I'm just making a big deal out of nothing probably due to stress!!!  Going to go shower really quickly and then take H for a walk!  Hope the sunshine will do us a little good!

((Hugs)) Alyssa. I've been in a crabby mood lately too. Like today I just CAN'T be doing with J's bottle and food refusal - its like 'right we've done this already, surely not again?'. J is crabby today also. I think we wind each other up sometimes. I poped out to see a friend and he was all happy and smiles - walked through our front door and he howled  ::).

I hate golf - DH keeps muttering about taking it up and I keep ignoring him. Its such a looooooong sport - not wonder they refer to golfing widows.

This is J's routine. Worked well for a week but having a bad day today.
Awake usually 6ish but currently aiming for 7am start - usually end up starting at 6.40am ish.
7am Bottle
8am Solids
10am Nap (wake at 11am) If he woke at say 6.20am I will sometimes more the nap up at bit say to 9.45am and still wake at 11am so he'll sleep for 1h 15 instead of 1h. I know it doesn't help the EW but it does help keep the rest of the day intact.
11am Offer bottle on waking
12pm Solids
2pm Nap (if he slept 1 h15 instead in the morning I add 15 mins to the A and start it at 2.15 - so 3h A after a 1h nap or 3h 15 A after a 1h 15-30 nap, oh and I do a split feed around this nap if he ate at 11am, if he ate at 12pm after refusing the 11am bottle I don't bother)
Wake up between 4pm and 4.30pm. I wake after 2 hrs or at 4.30 whichever comes first.
4pm Bottle
5pm Solids
7.15pm Bottle
7.30pm Asleep (Again A kind of depends on the nap length. I do 3h 30 after a 2 hr nap, but anything less and I would do 3h 15)

I think its OT that busts my naps rather than UT, and leads to the EWs. But UT at bedtime will cause a singing baby at 5.30am, OT will cause a grumpy shuffly wake up but still won't go back to sleep.

But today we are off track. He woke after 50 mins this morning (grumpy) and was a bit OT for his second nap. He's still sleeping at 60mins but I keep hearing him wriggle about. I have a feeling this will not be a 2 hr nap. But he's refluxy and teethy today anyway.

Even with that I'm still struggling with the wake up time. I'm starting to think he might just need a shift to allow for an earlier day and bedtime. I dunno really.

Hope you get back on track this afternoon.

J has always been high end average with A times but seems to be about average these days. I'm wondering - do babies change this sort of thing or do they tend to stay the same throughout? Just might give a clue as to whether to go up or down.

Hi Charmie, Nice to meet you, i'm Toni,

Liz, Your poor little man it must be horrible keep throwing up, Isabella retchs all the time when she is full or doesn't like what I give her.. must be horrible for you both.

Alyssa- You will get there, did you only have one NW? that's good isn't it?
My dh is in the spare room, as he fidgets and annoys me so i evicted him from our room!! ha ha
I have to shout him in the morning to come get her as he pretend that he hasn't heard her all night.. sigh >:(

Isabella was terrible last, I feel like a zombie, she was awake for most of the night but not crying just huffing and puffing like she just couldn't get comfy, and moving around.
Shh patted for 2 hrs but nothing happend.. apart from my back breaking from leaning over her cot :'(
So i brought her into my room with me and it took another 1hr 20 to get her to sleep... then b@ody woke at 5.45am..

She is in a great mood -how I don't know i'm not!!

Naps so far so good

Am 1 hr5mins
Pm so far 1hr 10 but not sure if she is a wake or not.. she keeps tricking me by waking up but being quiet.  :-\ ;)

J does that - just shuffles around and I'm never sure whether he is awake or not. But I can hear him and can't get to sleep myself. I tend to shut the nursery door when he does it now. I'm sure that is why I still have night feeds though as I jump in too quickly. I don't during the day - but at night I just want to make him sleep.

Sorry you had such a bad night  :-*. Any idea why?

Sounds like she is catching her sleep up anyway?!!

Maybe skip the pain meds and only give them if she wakes? They only work for the first 4-6 hrs anyway!

But if she is CLEARLY teething it might not be worth the gamble.

Wow!  Part 3!!!  And to think....when I started this thread I was just looking for someone to help me fix my EASY!  Well, I got a WHOLE BUNCH of people to help!   ;) :-*

Well, I'm back.  Finally got the cables all fixed.  It's amazing how lost I feel without the internet, but then after a day or two one learns to get on without it.  And now here I am!   :)

Sounds like everyone's been busy!!  We've not been too great on this end.  Naps are ugh, still trying to find what works.  Usually though I can get at least an hour, but Tristan will absolutely not sleep for longer than 1hr 20mins, so 2hr naps are out of the question!  You know, I'd be happy with 2x1hr naps.  I really think that's all he needs.  Hopefully we'll be there soon.  This morning though he woke after only 30mins, but I left him and he went back to sleep for another 40 so that's pretty good.

Nights have been awful, after such a good run of only 1NW nights too!!  He's been waking firs between 2-3 (even 1:30 on one night!), and then he wakes at 5 and won't go back to sleep for an hour.  Booooo!!!  I don't know what's up with the EWs!  But it's been throwing us off, because I refuse to get up early with him, so I just let him squirm or cry in bed with me when I ignore him and he goes back to sleep, and then we sleep until 8.  So the routine's been a bust most days, but I'm just one of those people who needs my sleep at any cost.  I've been napping a lot too, all this bad sleep has been giving me headaches.  I hope we get over it soon.

Tristan's teething again.  :P  I can see and feel the next two just below the gums.  So that's probably a big part of our problem, it seems like at 5 when he wakes he's uncomfortable and is always trying to chew on me.  I was going to do the cold turkey this weekend with the night feeds, but now I think because of the teething I should wait.  *sigh*  It's always something!  We've been dealing with a lot of OT lately too.   :(

He is all over the house these days!  I can't take my eyes off him for a minute!  Solids have been good, everything relating to awake time is always good, and all the sleep time is bad!  Oh well, one of these days....

We have decided to go the Philippines afterall...just couldn't pass up the opportunity...

Well, that's enough droning on for now.  I read through all your posts but sorry I haven't replied to them, hoping to jump back in now!!!  Missed you guys!!   :)

Charmie, we have come a LONG way...thanks for reminding me that  :D

Martina!!!! YOU"RE BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WE MISSED YOU!!!  :-* :-* :-* :-*

Ok, found a new activity to do with H!  And boy is it a workout!  DH and I went rollerblading!  DH had one of the dogs on a leash (we left the other at home...she doesn't do exercise very well!) and I pushed H in the stroller....oh my!  I never realized how the little hills in the roads become MOUNTAINS!!!  It was a good workout and H had fun!  I'll post back more after I catch my breath!  :P
