Hi Lucy!!  :-* :-* I'm glad Daisy slept 11 hrs, I'm sure she is more happy this morning!  ;)

To me, all this means that:

1.Daisy is waking up at around 5 am out of habit! I would try w2s for 3 days and see if it helps.  She likes to wake up at around 5, no matter what bedtime, so try w2s, hun! I've heard lots of moms use it to tackle habitual EWs.

2.  She still is sleeping somewhere around 2 hrs naptime.

3.  She can handle 4 hr A time in the morning or after a good nap!

4. She can handle 3.5 hr A time after a 1 hr nap!

5.  I would try to push Daisy's day back by adding 15 min to the first A time every 3 days.  Even 5 min every 3 days can work.   ;) What do you think, Charm?
So, may be I'd try to have that am nap at 9.10 am for the next 3 days and see what happens.  If she still sleeps 1 hr, then the next nap would start at 1.45 instead of 1.35 pm, and that would push bedtime a bit later, so instead of a 6 pm bedtime it would be at 6.10 pm.  After 3 days, you can add 10 more min and we'll see if Daisy starts waking 10 min later every 3 days, until we get it to where we want.  I know Kirry (EASY mod) moved her lo's day to 7 am like this for the daytime savings.

6.  Here is where I'm not sure what we should do, help me here, Charm! Do you think we should wake Daisy from the am nap after 30 min so she sleeps a 1.5 hr nap in the pm? Or, do you think we should let her sleep 1 hr for the am? I think that if we wake her after 30 min we can get her to sleep a long pm nap and then she won't be OT by bed, what do you think? OR...We could try to let her sleep 1 hr in the am, and see what she does for the pm and hope for something longer than 1 hr? And then 4 hr A till bedtime. What do you think?

7.  Keep swaddling Lucy b/c it seems to help her sleep! Do you have a fan in her room? Could that help with the heat so she can still be swaddled while it is hot?

Hugs hun! I hope we can push Daisy's wake up back until she wakes up at a decent hour! I would still try to let her have some toys in the crib so she can play until 6 am in her cot by herself

Maybe with a 1hr am nap, she can have her pm nap later?  This would shorten the last a time before bed.  Not sure if it's what you want.

I would definitely give W2S a try.

Ok, Lucy, so try the 1 hr am nap and see what Daisy does for the pm one! If she still sleeps 11 hrs during the night, then it will only be a matter of pushing her day back.  iykwim?
But, if the long am nap and a good pm nap starts robbing sleep from the night and causing Daisy to sleep less than 11 hrs during the night, the we will have to reduce the am nap to 30 min, what do you say?
So may be:
5 am wake up
9-10 am nap 1
1.30 - 2.30/2-45 pm nap 2
6.30 pm bed

Let see if Daisy wakes up at 5.30 am next day.  If she does, then we can keep 2x1 hr naps! If she starts sleeping less than 11 hrs a night, then 30 min am + 1.5 hr pm=2 hr naps will be better.
If she wakes up at 5.30 am then move her day 30 min later, does this make sense?

i forgot to tell you i did W2s this morning at 4am.she turned over the minute i opened the door.Shall i carry on with this?

With Ben being at preschool every morning we plan to meet up with friends in the pm probably 3/4 days out of the week so it would be better for us for Daisy to have a good sleep in the am and then she could have a 30 min catnap on the way home in the pm.The prob i have is that she would need to be awake by 11 for me to pick Ben up.somehow i need to get longer than 1 hr in the morning to be able to just have a catnap in the pm.-i know im asking a lot but its getting to the point that i am staying in all the time cos of D's naps and poor Ben is sooo bored in the afternoon and im turning down playdates all the time.im not going to do this anymore its not fair on Ben and its not doin my ppd any good. But then am i going to her her OT at bedtime having a short pm nap?-i suppose today will tell me that.Daisy woke at 2.15 today after 40 min but it was 6.15 before she was in bed-thats too long after such a short nap tho im sure.

Can you help me get that? i know im asking a lot!

Alexa-you said about putting her to bed early because she is waking early anyway but you just said to push her day so she can be in bed later-im confused??? by pushing her day will this stop the EW?

lol I'm confused too!! lol ??? haha!! Sorry! I didn't sleep too much last night (well you already know that!)

**********I don't think you should put her to bed later b/c that is not helping.  That is just making her sleep 10 hrs during the night, so she goes to bed OT and wakes up OT too! What I wanted to say is that (I'm hoping) that if we push her day back by 10/15 min every 3 days we can make her wake up later every 3 days.  So, if the am nap is usually at 9, then push it to 9.10 am for 3 days, this would push all her day later, so bedtime would be at 6.10 pm.  After 3 days, see if Daisy starts waking up 10 min later.  If she does, then add 10 more min to the first A so we push the first nap to 9.20 am, and so on, until we get bedtime to 7pm and wake up to 6 am.  Does this make sense?

Having a long am nap may encourage the EWs, but since Daisy is sleeping 11 hrs during the night, then that's not an EW, so i guess you can try and push the am nap later and see if she sleeps longer during the am.  So, this is what I would do:
5 am wake up
9.10 am - 10.30 am Nap 1 (let her sleep as long as she wants and then we can go from there and decide what to do with the pm, but supposing she sleeps 1 hr 20 min...If she sleeps longer, then let her have the pm catnap whenever she looks tired.)
2/2.30 pm - 2.40/3.10 pm Nap 2
6 pm Bedtime

***********For doing this, we need to have D's naps sorted out, so first let's get the long am nap and the short pm nap with an 11 hr night, and then we can push the day back and hope she wakes up later.  What do you say?

Keep me posted!!  :-* :-*

FWIW, Patrick always has his longest nap in the am! (1.5/2hrs) Then he has a catnap or a 1 hr nap in the pm and then bedtime! I looove having the long am nap b/c it gives me freedom in the afternoon. I make sure he sleeps the am nap at home, and then we can go out and about and he can sleep in the car/pram!  ;) And, it is great to be able to have some life outside my house! lol

i will def keep you posted!! to be honest im a bit skeptical cos the most i have ever got from D in the am is 1hr/1.15 and she will only sleep 30 mins if we are out whether it is in the car or buggy so she may struggle with this.

By the way after that loooong A time before bed we have had no wakings yet! with D if she is OT the wakings are every 30 mins from when she is asleep! This girl is mad! 40 min nap and a 4hr A!!-crazy!!

She's an energizer bunny! :o

Well, we can try to push that A time until we get a decent nap! I know D can be hard to read, but we can try it! We can have a looong A, so she gets a looong nap! When Patrick sleeps 2 hrs in the am, he only gets 30 min in the pm! ;)

Hi, Lucy!  I just wanted to jump in here and tell you that I'm reading your posts and I feel like I'm reading about my own lo!  He is giving me quite a bit of trouble lately and is also 10 months old.  What is with this age????  He is not getting me up quite as early as your lo  :o, but 5:00 or 5:30 is still too early for me.  Anytime after 6:15, I'm good, but that isn't happening these days.  He is taking short naps and is always waking up grumpy because I know he is not getting enough rest.  By nature, he is a touchy/grumpy little man so that certainly doesn't help.  Alexa has been a great help to me and I'm glad she's helping you as well plus it sounds like you are getting lots of other advice, so I'll be following along to see how things go for you.  I'm sorry you are having such a rough time right now....I'm right there with you!
