Red dye
« on: May 25, 2009, 20:09:53 pm »
I'm not sure if I'm in the right section, but I'll ask my question here anyways, and maybe someone can help or redirect me.  My 6mo went to the Dr's today, for his routine vaccines.  I have to  first say that we've finally succeeded in getting him to nap consistently and well.  Now, my Dr. advised me to give my lo Tempra to help reduce pain and fever.  Since he took it this morning, he hasn't be able to sleep and he's actually been extremely hyper.  I'm just wondering if the red dye in Tempra can be causing this reaction?  Anyone out there know?

There is a sticky post here all about red dye:: http://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=124647.0
A lot of people say the red dye does exactly what you say.  Can you get the dye free banana one?  It doesn't contain the artificial dye and maybe that will help?

There's been a joke circulating in Australia for years about kids going crazy on red cordial. My son reacts to artificial colours and red is one of the worst.I believe it is soon to be banned in some countries.
