naps when sick?
« on: May 27, 2009, 15:04:03 pm »
How long do you let your child nap when ill?
We're on one long nap now, but as Nick's sick he went to sleep after 3 hours A time and has been sleeping for 2+ hours...
Do you just let your LO sleep as much as they want?
Sounds silly, but he's never had this sort of illness-tummy bug...and our naps have never been this off before... ???

Generally, I do let them get what they can when they can.  Although I'll still try to gently wake J by 4 for a 7:30 bedtime.  Otherwise bedtime gets pushed WAY late, & that's no good either.

I'm so sorry Nick is ill.  Bless him & you!  :-*  Hope it gets better soon...

Cathie,

my rule is that i will wake him up as close as posisble to typical time to keep bed time constant or as close as posisble and normall when he unwell DS takes an eralier nap so he gets a longer nap but starts eraly IYKWIM.

so today he woke at 6:15 but went to sleep at 11:30 instaed of normal 12 due to his cold and will wake him up at 1:30 as usual.

HTH
9 and 6, oh boy!

Should probably have also mentioned that J has always had high sleep needs, so that plays a part.  And Isaac hardly ever wants to sleep past his "normal" time, no matter what.
