Hi everyone!

Not sure if this belongs here or in the baby food recipes section so move me if you need to :)

DS is mpi and I have been going crazy looking for biscuits for him (like baby mum mums).  I have searched all over our town including health food stores, organic sections, etc., and the only thing I can find that doesn't have dairy or "may contain traces" of dairy is Farley's biscuits.  The only problem with these is they have a lot of sugar in them :(  Does anyone have a recipe for a softer biscuit or teething rusk, made with any type of flour, that has no dairy in it?

Thanks so much!
Vikki

I have a couple of good ones from the Neocate website.

http://www.neocate.com/aaa_neocate/9961-cooking-with-neocate-low-allergy-rusks.html

We made them with squash and DS loved them, although I did find they didn't dissolve as well as I had hoped in his mouth.  I also admit that I "eyeballed" the recipe more than I care to admit so that could be part (lots?) of the problem  :-\

Lots of other great recipes on the Neocate links as well.

Have you tried rice cakes - they go over well with DS, moreso when he's teething!

I don't know any myself, but the website I frequent http://www.kidswithfoodallergies.org/ has a recipe database.  A lot of recipes are free, by if you become a member, $25 a year, you get full access including a baby food section.  You can then go in an tick off any foods they are allergic to and it will come up with a slue of recipes.   :)

Here is the recipe if anyone would like it :) :

3/4 cup rice flour or other permitted flour
1/4 cup milk free margarine
2 tbs veggie purée
Pinch salt

Combine all ingredients together. Knead to form a stiff dough. Add 1-2 tsp water if needed. Avoid adding too much water as the rusks will become hard.
Roll into finger sized sausages and cut into 5cm lengths. Bake at 180C for 20-25 minutes or until rusks begin to brown. Remove from oven and allow to cool. Store in an airtight container.

I haven't tried them yet, I'll be making them this weekend when dh is home!
Thanks Mashimaro for directing me to the site! :)

Thank you Spectra for directing me to the food allergy site as well :) That will be great when Dylan gets older and I'm trying to figure out what to make for dinner!!

I use a brand called "Celeb" (Canada) that says lactose free on the front. I checked the ingredients, and no milk products! Start by looking at lactose free ones, but still read the ingredients. One lactose free one still had modified milk ingredients in it ::)
I think I've read that Fleischman's (spelling?) brand has a milk free one too.

In the UK there is a brand called SURE. They do a dairy free magarine and a dairy-soy free margarine, which is basically solidified sunflower oil.  Doesn't taste nice (to me) but DS doesn't mind it!
