DS cried until we turned him around at 1 yr.  I dreaded taking him anywhere and I sat in the back seat on long trips.

Does your LO constantly cry or is it on/off?

I found my DS gets incredibly hot very quickly in his car seat which causes him to have a good old moan and cry, so now whenever he's going to be in car we strip him down to his vest. It's a bit of a pain dressing/undressing and he always still has sweaty hair when get him out but it combats the crying monster  ;D

Yes, my DS cries all the way, so much that he fight the harness/seatbelt that he hurts his hands...he gets really sweaty really fast.  I've also tried sitting with him it doesnt help.  I hope it doesnt last until his forward facing.

I was just about to post about this! DS also hates his carseat. Yesterday we had to go on a long trip. He is not one that falls asleep in the car either. After I ran out of distractions, he cried and fought it for 1 1/2 h. He fell asleep for the last 10 minutes of the ride home. I know it was alot to expect of him, it was a VEERRRY long day.
Does he suffer from reflux? My DS did, and when he was younger he hated the carseat in part for that reason. That particular position seemed to make it worse because he was hunched over.
He got hot and sweaty and I think that is what made it so difficult for him. My niece also hated her carseat. He is 6 mo so I sang songs, brought toys, played games, but it didn't help for very long. I wish I could give you more suggestions, just wanted to tell you that it is the same for us, too.

Hugs

Anytime I took my dd in the car, I made sure it was around nap time and offer her her paci. It made life bearable and eventually she would sleep.

I was just about to post about this. My dd is 10 months old and has been getting worse at it, where she doesn't even want to sit in the car seat without putting up a fight  ???.  The other problem is that she will not fall asleep in it either  :(

My dd did this as well as a newborn...she did have reflux I learned later...so perhaps she was uncomfortable.  Have any of you adjusted the seat, can you recline it a bit more?  Do your lo's have mirrors or anything to look at while they are sitting there? IMO, this is important...looking at the upholstery can't be fun!!!

DD outgrew it....we did play in the seat a few times inside...no buckle....sat in front of her, sang, did hand-games....I think it helped to remove negativity???

Hi everyone, Im glad the website is back !!! I also just about to post the same topic. My DS, now 9mo has been sitting well on his car seat & travel system until about 2 months ago. Now he cries so very very bad everytime I put him on his car seat & stroller. Coincidently it's getting worst with separation anxiety. Last week we had a family vacation out of town, he didnt want to sit for a minute on his car seat and ask for a taxi all day loonggg... he even didnt want to be holded by his dad ( a very exhausting trip :-( ). Next month Im going to take him for a long vacation again, I wonder what to do, I couldnt imagine if I have to carry him every where with a sling. Need a help pleaseee... thanks !
