Sorry to hear the fish didn't work out, they do have sensitive tummies? Is it just meat/fish they have problems, or proteins in general? If it's protein, it might be worth getting some further medical help into it, maybe they are lacking in something which makes it have for them to digest proteins? I know (raw) pineapple and kiwifruit have enzymes in them which help to breakdown roteins so don't know if that would help.

Lizzie I am still BF twice a day, have just dropped the mid day feed so I can have some flexibility eg at work. I read that BM has less calcium than cow's milk, but is better absorbed, but still overall it has less calcium, that's why I was worried about getting another source of (non- dairy/soy) calcium into him. Yes obviously I will have to get a bit more creative with cooking! What brand of rice milk are you using - I am using Vitasoy, the fresh stuff that you get in the refrigerated section. Can't stand the taste of the UHT stuff.

It's been all meat and fish since they started it pureed at 8 mos. Not really getting anywhere with the doctor :( We've worked up to finely chopped chicken and beef, and things are going well with them and today we're going to try pork. I think they have extremely sensitive tummies to all kinds of things. We even gave them a second dose of the zantac the other night and it seemed to really calm them. Perhaps it may also be a dosage thing? Not sure.

They can handle beans, fortified bran and other types of protein with little issue (I think), so we've decided to wait until they're 2 and push the doctor for some tests. We've had some progress with the meat albeit slow, so we're going with that and hopefully everything else will work out.

Thanks for the info on the kiwi and pineapple :) - we'll give that a try also.

Hey one thing I would say is watch the pork, only give a tiny bit for a start...not sure what it is but seems to upset lots of babies...maybe because it is quite rich??? Not sure! Some of the MSPI mummies use turkey meat, may be another one that your LOs can handle?  Sorry that fish is not good, that's a pity but just remember avocados are a brilliant source of omega 3 and good fats, very easy for LOs to eat too as long as they can handle the texture (though if they find it too slimey you can put wheat germ on the outside, one of the other mums on this site suggested that and I think it's a great idea :) ).

Hey Lan, I'm using the UHT rice milk and oat milk 'cause that's all I can get - perhaps that's why my rice milk tastes kind of sweet?  Same brand :)  I use the protein enriched one, but haven't tried giving it to Dyllan as a drink, just using it in cooking.  He is on an elemental formula as well as 2 or 3 breastfeeds per day (depending on how it's all going if I'm at work etc)...I guess if this is a long term diet change I will have to do some research into calcium and lots of other vitamins and minerals too (and get WAY more creative in the kitchen LOL), but for now we are sitting tight with our fingers crossed that one of these days it's going to get better....

Big hugs lovelies

Ok, so we went with a little bit of chopped pork, and things were great :D So we've made it to chicken, pork, and hamburger that the girls can eat. We're so excited it's hard to contain lol. This is two nights in a row that things went well and they slept in until 8am yesterday and 730am this morning. We're excited about the new changes!

LizzieN we tried turkey and eggs but found them both really gassy. I found the same reaction in them when I was BF. I'm going to wait and try them again in a couple of months. I will give the advocados a try, they love slimy and squishy lol :)

I do find that the meat is slowing down their bm's but they're not constipated and the poop isn't hard. I think the ground flax seed I'm mixing in their food is helping keep them regular and perhaps that's helping them sleep in in the mornings. Before they would be getting beans with supper for the iron and protein and most mornings we were getting a bm around 6-630am. Now it's not until 10am and they're sleeping much better for it. I think :P So much of this is still guess work.

Had some hamburger for supper done on the Foreman Grill to take out all the grease. Mixed it with some mashed potatoes and mixed veggies and they loved it. DDA woke up and had a bm at 730pm tonight (they go down at 630pm now) but she settled right after and we haven't heard a peep since. Hopefully this is becoming a habit and we'll have this food thing ruled out before more teeth come in and sleep goes out the window again :P

Fingers are crossed for tomorrow morning :D

Thanks :) Girls stayed down until 7:30 this morning and we're getting pretty comfortable with them getting up so late and rested.

Had some chicken and potatoes for supper tonight and girls are settled already.

Tried a bite of frozen yogurt with them today as we keep trying every month or so, and not happy girls :( No puking this time as it was only a little bit, but lots of grumpy grumps going on. They mellowed though after their meds and supper, so we'll wait another month and try again.

Keep you all posted to our progress - this may finally be the start of something great for them :D .
