What is "activity time" for a 5 week old?
« on: July 02, 2009, 22:47:24 pm »
I am bottle feeding and she finishes her bottle in about 20 min.  Sometimes it's more like a dream feed during the day and a dream nappy change. What should I do? sometimes I feel like I've completely skipped activity time.

This is very normal at this age.  :)  As she gets older she'll become more aware of her environment and able to handle longer A time.

As long as she's not reversing her days and nights (that is, only having 20 minutes A time during the day and then wanting to be awake for 2 hours at 3 am), I would honor her cues and keep her well-rested.  It'll change in a few short weeks.

hi, yep completely normal for a young bub.
A little bit of a chat and smiles and eye contact (or sing a little nursery rhyme for her to listen to) while you get her nappy changed before the next nap is 'A' time  :)

Yes, it's very normal. I would sing a lot to my LO and even now (he's 8 month) he will stop crying or fussing when I sing. I would also talk a lot and show pictures of my family, etc. That's about all they are awake for! :)
