E.A.S.Y routine with the school run/routine??
« on: July 15, 2009, 09:03:51 am »
Hello,

My baby is due on Saturday (the first day of the school summer holidays) and I already have a 5 year old son who is currently in reception and looking forward to going into Year One after the summer holidays.

I've just finished reading Tracy's book and just wondered if you could help me get my head around what would be 'ideal' for the baby if he is on the E.A.S.Y routine and also having to kinda fit in with the school run routine come September.

I guess my main concern is that when it comes to getting up and ready for school I will obviously be setting my alarm to get up in time etc and I will need to get the baby up too, waking the baby at the same time every morning be ok? will it just be a case of me inducing the time of the first 'E' of the day, then obviously changed and dressed etc and any awake time will be the 'A' but then when it actually comes to going to school (we live quite some distance away) the baby will be in the car seat as we need to use the car which will then be transferred to the pram once we get within walking distance of the school. I'm guessing this will no doubt be when the baby ends up having his first nap of the day?

Same goes for in the afternoon when it comes to collecting son from school, i'm feeling like i'm going to have to try/plan things abit more so then if it was just the one newborn and he was on EASY. As ideally i dont want the baby wanting his 'E' time when its time to be out and about the house to collect son from school (need to leave house at 2.45pm and return around 3.30pm) or is it just a case of the baby may become accustom to having his feed either before or after the afternoon school run depending on when the feed time lands?

Sorry for what may seem like silly questions, you wouldn't think i've had a baby before but it seems like a whole different ball game having another soul to care for too and having things that need doing on a daily basis.

On the plus side i have the summer holidays to get to know my baby and not worry too much about the school routine, but should i be implenting the wake up times of the day before school actually starts? to get the baby use to it?

Any tips/advice/personal experences will be very much appreciated :)

Kelly

Hi Kelly, had similiar experience this year.
My Lo is my 3rd and my DS needed to be transported to school. Can your car seat come out of the car and come into the house. Mine did and I found it helpful. I fed at 7 am, by 8 my Lo was ready for S, so I popped her in the car seat and transferred it to the car when we were ready. I tried to get the best sleeps in the am ,as often the pm school run was more out of her routine. After a month or so it fell into place as the A time increased.

I was so anxious the first couple of mornings but very quickly got used to it.
Good Luck with it all.

Yeh my pram etc has the option so that the car seat can be used as part of the pram system too luckily :)
