Adjusting naps when one is late/long...
« on: August 17, 2009, 20:05:38 pm »
Oh I missed you all!!

Wesley typically naps for a bit over an hour at around 9:30 and 2:00. Do I stick to these times and a regular bedtime if he has a late first nap and therefore bumps the entire day up? Wesley is 13 months and usually wakes at around 6:30 and goes to bed at around 7-7:30. We're also house hunting right now so I sometimes have been putting him down as late as 3 for his afternoon nap.  Let me know what you all think, thanks!

Hi,

I moved this over to Sleeping for Toddlers since your LO is over 1yr. My opinion is, if his routine is working for you right now there's no need to change it. When he starts refusing a nap or bedtime gets too late for your liking, then you can start transitioning him to 1 nap. :)

Sometimes he has a rough bedtime when he has a later afternoon nap but not always. I cant tell if it's OT or UT.

My boy is big enough for the toddler board.... He's growing up!

They grow up so fast, don't they?!

At this point, if he's not putting up a fight going down for the PM nap, I would probably just wake him if it got too late. I'm guessing the bedtime battles are UT if both his naps have been at least over 1hr. Eventually he'll start needing longer A times and then you can either start cutting the AM nap or push the AM nap later in the day and cut the PM nap. :)

Gotcha,The latest I have been letting him sleep was 4:30 and today he slept until about 4 and had a tough time getting to sleep. We'll work on either an earlier pm nap or shorter am nap and see how it goes. He rubs his eyes and lays down but then rolls around and cant settle. I thought it was OT but I'm thinking now it's UT. I'll report back, thanks!
