Banana Bread
« on: September 02, 2009, 11:09:30 am »
Banana Bread - this often has dark choc chunks chucked in too... altho milk choc is nice IMO!

INGREDIENTS
• 250 g wholewheat flour
• 5 g baking soda
• 2 g salt
• 115 g oil or oil/banana yog mix
• 110 g brown sugar
• 2 eggs, beaten
• 525 g mashed overripe bananas
DIRECTIONS
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
2. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking soda and salt. In a separate bowl, cream together oil/oilyog and brown sugar. Stir in eggs and mashed bananas until well blended. Stir banana mixture into flour mixture; stir just to moisten. Pour batter into prepared loaf pan.
3. Bake in preheated oven for 60 to 65 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into center of the loaf comes out clean. Let bread cool in pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack.

Hi Kikoz15

Honestly I can't remember when advice says to introduce certain foods. This has eggs and sugar, which I think *should* be left for later. If you wanted to reduce use of sugar you can cook some pitted dates in apple juice then blend them into a paste and use that to replace the sugar. Not sure what you could do about the eggs though!

Are you BLW your LO?

Really??? I never heard that. My kids - now 2 and 3 - still don't have coke. There's so many nasties in coke! Dates are a much more nutricious option.

Have you tried BLWing? With my first we tried spoons for a month then he refused so we went with BLW. I've never looked back. Both were BLWed and it was SO easy. no messier than spoon feeding really and they're completely independent eaters now. Well worth looking in to.

Yes I know coke is nasty. They actualy put it in cakes during fasting seasons...
Anyway, today I tried to give lo a rusk biscuit, and she had a blast!! She usualy enjoys her meals but she was actually laughing while feeding herself.
I think I d try BLW at first this way, experimenting with other foods, and then we ll c.
Thx
