You can't write m-a-r-k-i-n-g- on post as they decided it was nicer for people to actually write something that just m-a-r-k their spot.

For a while it was really common around here for people to reply with just mark*ing to a thread.  It was getting to be a problem because it made it appear there were responses to a thread when really there wasn't, so others wouldn't even look and offer advice thinking advice had already been offered.  In other threads it was making them long and messy because they were cluttered with lots of those little posts.  Admin decided to help us all be a little more thoughtful in our responses , they would censor mark*ing.

The censor also used to make a real mess of the word carseat as it has the not so delicate term for a bottom in the word (between the C and the second a). 
It is not a very smart censor.  So even if you are using the word mark*ing in it's correct use (eg my kids have been using their pens and mark*ing up floors) it will change the word.
