Habitual Waking - during second nap and once or twice at night
« on: September 15, 2009, 17:34:52 pm »
Hello,

My LO is just over 8-months old and we FINALLY have a fairly good routine going.
It looks something like this:

7 am - wake
7:15 am - 7 oz bottle
845 or 9 am - Breakfast (cereal with fruit)
10 am (nap #1) - 1.5 hours
Noon - Lunch - veggies and cereal with fruit for dessert
145 or 2 pm - 7 oz bottle
*** 230 pm (nap #2) - 1 hour, then waking up screaming - rock back to sleep and sleeps for another 45 minutes to 1 hour
4:30 pm (Snack) - Cherrios or Baby MumMum
530 pm - Dinner - veggies and cereal with fruit for dessert
715 pm - 7 oz bottle

My issues are:

- he wakes from his nap #2 screaming after an hour and I rock him back to sleep and he sleeps for another hour, so I am doubtful it is waking from hunger. This has been going on for about a week now, same time every day.
- he also wakes screaming at about 830 pm after he has fallen asleep at night and we rock him again for about 20 minutes and he falls asleep again till about 1 am and we have to rock him again and he sleeps till 7 am or even 715 am.  THis has also been going on for about a week or so.

My questions are:

What can be done about the wakings at nap #2 and at night after he has been fed at 715 pm and then wakes an hour and a bit later.  He has also slept through the night on this schedule so I am pretty sure it is not waking from hunger pains!  I think I am developing a sleep crutch and need to break it! What can I do????

Any advice would be appreciated!

THanks!

Terri

I completely agree Jane but what do I do now?

I was reading somewhere that sometimes LO can go longer for the first A time prior to Nap #1 as they have slept so long at night but then the second A time prior to nap #2 should be a little shorter, like 2.5 hours instead of 3 hours.

Have you heard anything like that?

Should I try one of those pu/pd methods or wake to sleep?
