Was he OT or UT? Please could you help
« on: September 22, 2009, 10:48:02 am »
6 months old

After waking at 5.30am he went back to sleep after 20 mins of babbling and then woke again at 7.30am. Great I thought and he seemed in a really good mood. So I thought I would aim for 2.5 A time and therefore got him down to nap at 10am. Well he woke after 30 mins, I tried to resettle but he was wide awake and seemed very happy. Well with 20 mins he was so grumpy I couldn't do anything with him ( could be his teeth, not sure?) so gave him some pain meds. He still was just so unhappy and rubbing his eyes so I decided to cradle him and his eyes started to shut so by 11.15am I put him back down for a nap where he napped for a further 30 mins.

What was this about? Do you think he was UT when I put him down at 10am or OT? He did yawn twice at 9.30am but thought should wait until 10am. Do you think I should have put him down at 9.30am when he started yawning although it was only 2 hour A time?

could be the same as my LO ...teething and A time has gone from 3 hrs 15 to 2 hr 30!! I have been having 20 min naps for nearly 2 wks now and tried reducing A time and increasing neither worked!! but never imagined I would need to go to 2 hr 30...tried it yesterday as a last resort and what do you know...a long nap!!!

shocked!! :o :o

so maybe try putting him down at 2 hr 15 first and see if it makes any difference ...or when he rubs his eyes hold him and if he rubs his face on you then just put him to bed...thats what im finding works (most of the time!!)

good luck!

Hello
I am new here and I am not sure if I am experienced enough to give you any good advise but I suppose he was OT. As far as I know morning A time can be a bit shorter then later in the day. But this could be discomfort as well. I suppose it would be good to put your LO for a nap just after he yawns, or only a few minutes later depending on other cues but not 30 minutes. I think it could be too much for him. My LO sleep never more then 30 minutes when she is OT and it is almost impossible to resettle her.

Great advice, thanks all.

I think I will listen to his cues more and maybe he does need slightly shorter A time in the mornings. I will try 2.25 tomorrow and let you know how I go.

Good luck everyone.
