8 month old and NW & sitting in crib crying :D
« on: October 13, 2009, 14:21:31 pm »
Hi Everyone, I was hoping for a little advice :D

Caleb is a good sleeper and can settle himself usually, but over the past month when he wakes, he just sits in his crib and cries - almost like he doesn't know how to lay down again. When I wait for him to start really crying, I go in there and lay him down he gets really mad and starts kicking and crying louder. And this usually occurs between 4-5am. Should I just leave him sitting? I've tried the pu/pd and it just seems to make him cry louder (and then I regret it!) He has recently started pulling himself up and I don't want him to fall and hurt himself...but on the other hand...I need to sleep too!

His routine most often looks like this:

wakes 6:30-7am
E - breast (usually both sides) & breakfast
A -
S - 9am for 1.5-2hrs
E - breast (usually bother sides) lunch around 11:30
A-
S - 1pm for 1.5 hrs (would love to stretch it to 2...but I just haven't figured that out yet!) breast & snack when wakes
A -
E - dinner around 5:30pm
A -
E - breast before bed (7pm)
A - bath & bed by 7:30pm

Anything I can do? or just live with the 5am wake up?
I have done the W2S before - and it works well. However, last night I was going to wake myself at 4am to W2S for Caleb - but he beat me to it! he was up at 4am :(

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks for the reply.

I know his first nap is close to his wake up - but if he's sitting in his crib crying since 5:30am, keeping him awake until 9am is really hard. Sometimes he naps really well...others not so much.

I know the time from when he wakes after his pm nap until bed time is too long - I'm really not sure how to fix it. When he wakes from his pm nap early, I wait for him to really cry and then pu/pd until the 'end of nap time'  I know he's OT, but I just don't know where to begin to solve it!

Any how, thanks for your help I truly appreciate it.

thanks for the advice.

Last night he went to bed at 7pm and woke at 4am. I did pu/pd for 1hr and he went back to sleep until 7am. I was very pleased. I'm gearing up for another 4am wake up :D

this site rocks! The support is so much appreciated!!!
