Hello There,

So I am new to this whole schedule thing and am learning as I go.  Previously I was just letting my lo fall asleep in the carseat, carrier, or me and not paying too much attention.  Now, after reading BW we have been consistent about putting him down for naps in his crib and sticking to the schedule as much as possible.  My question is, should the "time schedule" be revised if we are trying to keep our baby up too long that he becomes overtired and then sleeps only 45 minutes? Should we let him kind of fall asleep gradually during his A time if he needs it? I can't believe that he has slept 2 hours already today (hasn't done that once in the past month) and wondering if that's because he fell asleep on his own instead of us trying to fit him into a time schedule.

Any ideas and insights would be greatly appreciated!!
Leah

45 mins naps are usually a sign of undertiredness rather than overtiredness. But to answer your question, if he's tired he needs to sleep. The EASY way isn't a schedule with set times, but a routine order of doing things - activity coming between eating and sleeping. You adjust the times to suit your baby.

Thanks for your reply.  I'm just not sure what's going on with him.  He slept 2 hours 9am-11am when he didn't have that much morning activity (but also didn't sleep well either...up every 2 hours).  Then played with him from 11:30-12:30, then read a book for 5 min, then took 10 minute walk and was getting very drowsy.  I put him down and he didn't put up any fight and fell asleep in 7 minutes.  I thought for sure he would sleep 2 hours again, but much to my dismay he was up after 45 minutes again.  Does anything sound fishy to you?

Thanks so much!
Leah

It's difficult to say based on your last post - can you write it out in EASY format, how your day has gone?
