Hi There,
My beautiful 14 week old son has started to wake very night at 12, 2, 4 and 5.30 for the last week and a half. At first I thought is may have been a growth spurt so offered a feed however he is not interested in taking it and if he does he only has a few mouthfuls then is not interested in his first morning feed. We are having to cuddle him back to sleep as if we leave him in the cot he cries. (We never leave him to cry and never have in the past)
Previous to this he was going to bed at 7 being dream feed at 10 and then waking at 4 but only for a small drink and then back to sleep until 7, I was about to start giving him a cuddle and try to settle him without the feed as he did not appear to be hungry .
He is currently being feed every 3 to 3.5 hours during the day and is staying up for around 1.5 hours at a time. I'm not having any trouble getting him to sleep during the day or at night but wonder if I should be changing him to a 4 hour feeding routine?
Here is out basic day (Not quite EASY due to the 3.5 hour feeds he changed to a 3.5 hour routine at about 7 weeks)
E- 7.00 feed (Not usually interested is taking much though - i'm breast feeding)
A- 7.20 Nappy change and play
S - 8.30 Down for nap - (The morning nap is usually 45 mins to 1.5 hours is varies quite a lot)
Y - I usually rest
E - 10.00 feed - this one is usually a good feed he takes both breas ts and feeds for a good 20mins
A- 10.30 - nappy change and play time
S- 11.30 - Nap
Y -
This is were is gets messed up
Wakes at about 12.15 to 12.30 and doesn’t need a feed so we play until about 13.00 and then he feeds again
E- 13.00 normally about 15mins
A- Until 13.45
S- 13.45 until about 15.00 and again not hungry so I don’t feed him until 4.00. At 4.30 I usually go for a walk and he will nap in his pram until about 5.15.
We then start the night routine he has a kick with his nappy off, is bathed and then we have a quite feed in his room and he is tucked up asleep by 7.
We don’t ever leave him to cry, however when he stirs from sleep I don’t rush in, in case he falls back to sleep, I wait until he is calling out for me before I go in. During the day he will wake from one sleep cycle talk and choo for a few minutes the nod off again, this however is not happening at night, he is waking fully and then crying out to us.
Very confussed as to what I should be adjusting to get it right for my son’s needs.
Thanks so much for your help
