« on: November 27, 2009, 15:39:35 pm »
hi i have a textbook baby with reflux on gaviscon doing well.
my problem is that he only naps 30 mins a time and needs to be rocked to sleep
here is a typical day:
awake 7.30
E 7.50 am
s 9.05
a9.55
E 10.45
S 11.45
A 12.15pm
e 1.05pm
s 2.55
a3.15
E 3.35
s 5.30
a 6.10
e 6.25
s 8.00
awake 7.30 am after a full nights sleep

doesnt wake up grumpy is quite happy and chatty wont entertain trying to be put back to sleep, can u see a problem with any thing that i could tweak to get him to have better naps? is this ok?
how do i stop him being rocked to sleep?

many thanx pam x x x

Hi Pam, at 4 months old he needs to be transitioning to a four hour routine, his A time is a little on the low side, should be getting up to 2 hours, i would try extending his A time and moving towards the four hour EASY

usually 30min naps mean OverTired but because he is waking up happy it shows that he is actually having an UnderTired nap, so hes not sleepy enough to have a full sleep because he hasnt been awake long enough.

take a look at this:http://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=63161.0

hi Pam, ok this is probably my fault for not being so clear, but when transitioning or making an extension in A times we need to go slow so increasing by 15 mins every three or four days so their body get gradually used to the change. if we do the jump all at once then you end up with him being OT as he just cant handle the increase all at once.
I think if you take it back a step or two, whatever his A time was before then just increase it by 15mins and do this every couple of days.

if hes really touchy to sleep then try doing in 5 min blocks instead: http://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=120362.0

ok thats a good idea, when you have got all your days written down, work out the day that worked the best and see if you can recreate it then we can go from there! xx
