Okay! That sounds great. DS is sleeping right now. His A time was shorter this morning as he seemed tired from his night last night. Hopefully he will have a good nap and then we can get to the bottom of this. I am guessing the same with the teething. He has been drooling more then usual today and spitting up like crazy (both of which he did last time he cut teeth). Fingers crossed for a long nap and getting away from OT!

Oh yeah, DS would drool and spit up more when teething!  :P  Fun!!

Hope you get a good nap!  If you do, you might be able to stick to a more normal A for the second one.  It could be just the first A needed to be shortened.  I guess you will just have to watch his cues this afternoon and see how he is after this nap!

He had a great nap. Woke up at 1 1/2 hour to the minute. He was really good and just went down for his second nap at usual A time. He seemed just fine! Depending on how this nap goes, we will plan to aim for a 6:45 bedtime and cross our fingers for a good night!

DS woke at 1hr 20 min for the pm nap so good but maybe a little OT? Will get him to bed by 6:45 at the latest hoping for slightly earlier but that might not work out!

1hr20mins tends to confuse me...OT or UT I never know!  :P  Good luck with the early bedtime, I think it should help with your NWings (at least I hope so!)  My LO always sleeps better with a shorter A time before bed.  :)

We got him into bed by 6:45 but it needed to be earlier. He actually fell asleep drinking his bottle. So far he has already woken at the 45min mark. Oh well...better luck for tomorrow!

How did the rest of the night go??  Sorry he got to bed a little late.  That's the beauty of having a baby though, there's always tomorrow to try again!  lol  Aim for good naps again and maybe a 6:30 bedtime.

FWIW, we tweaked and tweaked yet DS didn't STTN until 10mo.  It was like a part of him needed to mature to a certain point.  But once he did start, he's been great every since.  Obviously there are times when we have issues, but 95% of the time he STTN and it's great.

I think you're on the right track.  :)

Okay so the rest of last night was sort of a mess but still okay compared to what DS has done in the past. He woke up 45min after he first went to bed then 45 min after that and then 45 min after that again. Then he slept for an hour and a half and then woke every 3 hours until 5 when he thought he should be awake for the day (yuck!). I did get him to go back to sleep until 7 am ( in my bed I should add, not a good habit but I needed the extra hours). So not very successful but at least we are starting today with a sort of 7am wake up. I don't even know what to try for today. Earlier A times all day?

I would try a shorter morning A, say 2hrs 45mins (he normally does 3hrs right?), or whatever you did yesterday cause that worked!  Followed by whatever you would normally do in the afternoon if you get a good nap, and an earlier bedtime.  I remember at that age DS needed a fairly short morning A to get a good nap, but the afternoon one could usually be a little longer.

Ok. What do you do when DS has a EW where he is awake for about 45 min before going back to sleep for about an hour and a half? It would seem that his morning A should even shorter but how do you judge how much shorter?

I would still usually count from the time he wakes up and not consider the 45min wake time.  If you were going to shorten anyway, I don't think it's necessary to go EVEN shorter than what you were planning on doing.  That's just my opinion though, with my DS I always just went from the final wake time regardless of what happened before then.  :)

Ok that sounds good. I put him to sleep for his nap at 2hr and 45 min and he went to sleep right away. We will wait to see how long the nap is. Thanks so much for your help!

Ok I posted too soon. He just woke up at the 30 min mark so OT? I don't know, he really wasn't showing his normal sleepy signs before I put him to nap but he did fall asleep right away. Oh well...he appears to have gone back to sleep for now.

Ugh nevermind...he is happily playing in his crib. I get so frusterated when he does not nap well. It is like the only time i get to get anything done and its gone....:(  ::)
