I wrote a post before and it is not here????

Anyway, all I said was that 2 naps generally don't go well here.  The past few times my LO has refused the 2nd nap, with the exception of yesterday.  I decided to play it by ear and put my LO down when he was ready and he did about a 5 hour 20 minute A and slept 2 hours and 15 minutes.  Woo hoo!!!!!

It is what I had intended to do today - a 5h15 min A.  But then he yawned and was so tired this morning that I went 30 mintues early and had a short nap....you've inspired me to stick to my plan tomorrow and will go just over 5h and see where it gets me.  I do think that a lot of the probs here were UT that led to OT....

Mashi, I love your new pic!!

Honestly, I just wanted to see if we could kind of get close to 11, but not push it so that my LO was a wreck trying to get there.  He was fine even to the point that I went to change his diaper and didn't show tired signs until that point.  But I am so glad it worked.

I hope you have better luck tomorrow.  Tomorrow will be a disaster for us, because my nephews are getting baptized, DH and I are the godparents, and we have no one to watch our LO, which means we will have to put him down for a nap at our B+SIL's house well after his scheduled nap time. That never goes well, because he just wants to be around everyone.

Mashi, I love your new pic!!

Thanks - he's sweeping the floor with the new mini-broom he got for Christmas.  Toss all the other toys aside, it's a $3 broom that stole the day!

Ours was a 99p potty from my mum!!!  I think DS just preferred that to sitting on the floor!!

Kara great news on the marathon nap and fingers crossed tomorrow goes better than expected.  Is there anyway you could get nap in first and then ride the rest out?  That's what we did with my bro's wedding last week?

stick to my plan tomorrow
Always stick to the plan!!  I'm always thinking well this is the plan and then I do something else entirely!

Good sleep vibes all round.  We've had several bad nights OS hell!!  I guess though that's what happens at Christmas - also very noisy neighbours!

They don't need real toys!!  They can amuse themselves with anything!!

Yes Laura, fingers crossed for a good night!!

My LO was still tired tonight, even after the longer nap.  He was sleeping with a 5 hour A and I think if I could have moved quick enough, he would have been sleeping sooner.

We got a 12 hour night!  I just said to DH that there is a pattern: we will have a bad day/days, then a decent night, then a great nap, then a great night, and my LO is caught up.  He never does the 12 hour night when I need him to and think he should. It is always after he has already started getting caught up on sleep.

Laura, in response to your suggestion yesterday about a nap on the way over and way back, we are going so early that I don't think he will sleep yet.  It would be great if he did, but I doubt it.  Plus, by the time we leave, it will be going for 2 pm and that is way too late for a nap.  He woke at 6 today, so we are going to try and put him down as soon as we get to their house, which will probably be noonish.  Still too long of an A time, but the best we can do.

Today went like this:
wake: 6
nap: 11:30 - 12:30  :(
Bed - Just can't settle!!! He is really OT - was freaking out about the sippy I gave him at 5, wouldn't eat anything, just miserable.  I rushed to give him a bath and had him in bed at 5:30.  He cried until 5:40, rolled around and appeared to be going to sleep and it is now 5:50 and he is standing up again hanging over his crib rail.  If I didn't have a video monitor, I would think that he was sleeping.  But he won't settle and go to sleep.  I am dreading tonight, because this is not a good sign of what is to come!

Oh no not good.  We're having similar at bed.  It's the pits isn't it.  Let me know how your night is.

We too are having really bad naps and nights and even though I'm really shortening the first A time, we're still getting bad naps!

Do you think after a 12hr night and then an hour nap, he could've actually been ready for bed a little later?  I know we have horrible OT/UT thing going.  He catches up I don't realise then put him down early which ends in UT and then OT caused by the UT IYSWIM?!!!

I wish I could say it was UT, but it was definitely OT.  It was a BUSY day and my LO only slept for 1 hour and then had a 5 hour A before I put him down.  He didn't end up falling asleep until an almost 6 hour A last night.  DH thought it was also teeth related, because while he was standing in his crib, he was chewing on the rail.  We also had a NW at 11:30, although we didn't got in and our LO settled himself.  He was moaning and crying for about 1/2 hour, sat up, then laid back down and finally settled.   I didn't want to go in, because I couldn't tell how awake he was.  So I said if he stands and cries out to us, we will go in.  But he didn't.  Then he woke at 5:30 this morning.  So while it was an 11 hour night, I do know it was OT related.

Oh dear, not good then.  I expect at some point soon he'll make up for the lost sleep??  Have you many busy days ahead?

We have a couple of busy days. But nothing like the week that just passed.  So I think we will be able to get back on track.  It is just this early bedtime I want to kick at some point!!

Today his nap was 1.5 hours.  Not horrible, not great.  I am hoping for a good night. He will have a 5.5 hour A before the nap and a 5.5 hour A after.  I put him down slightly earlier today, but he didn't fall asleep until that point.  I didn't want to even attempt 2 naps even though his wake time was 5:30.  Also, I don't want an earlier bedtime than 6.  So hopefully he goes to sleep without a problem.

That is what I am hoping.  But you know how it goes Michelle, he will take an even shorter nap today and we will still need an early bedtime.
