I saw on another thread that mini-mashi is sleeping a lot.  I wish my LO would sleep more when he is teething!!!  He seems to fight sleep more or be unsettled.  I guess with your input in mind, i will just keep an eye on him this morning and see.  We aren't going anywhere, so I can put him down whenever.

So, that went well. ::)  I put my LO down at 11 and honestly he didn't even look ready then.  But I knew it was getting late considering his short night.  He fell asleep at 11:08 and woke at 12:24.  I left him for a while until he started freaking out.  Then I tried to AP him back to sleep, which just made him freak out more.  Now we have a short night and short nap.  Grrrrrr...back again.

We had similiar here I have to say!

We don't get any extra sleep with teeth either.  They just bug him more than anything and make him wake early in the morning and at nap time.  Even with meds.

I guess I have approx nap times because I can't stand the guess work and as you know my LO's sleep is crazy regardless of anything I try!  So at least that way I know where I stand!

Laura, if I were in your situation, I would do the same thing.

For a Lo that hasn't slept well, he sure is happy today!!  I am aiming for a 6 pm bedtime, despite the short nap and crappy night.  Fingers crossed he makes up for it tonight and sleeps 12 hours.

We often have a very happy LO given everything even with mega tiredness and illness.  Definitely fingers crossed and keep yours crossed for us too!!  I could do with a break!

My LO slept 6:30 - 6:30.  Good night, although there was so moaning in the middle of the night.  But he didn't wake.  Should i read anything into the fact that it is taking so long to fall asleep at night?  We were aiming for a 6 pm bedtime, but he didn't fall asleep until 6:30.  That was about a 6 hour A after a short nap.  Anyway, I am not complaining, since we had a good night.

I am almost starting to think that we need a bedtime of 6:30/7 because my LO is going to wake early regardless.  I wish we could get to 7.

He also appears to have no appetite at the moment.  Yesterday, he had a good breakfast.  Then all he had for the rest of the day was a couple of bites of zucchini/carrot bread, a homemade pb protein bar, and 1/3 of a banana for dinner.  He wouldn't eat a thing.  This morning I gave him his usual breakfast, which he normally eats in minutes and it just sat there.  Then he started whining because he didn't want it.  I tried spoon feeding him 3 different things and he wouldn't take them.  Then he started gagging - DH thinks it is a post nasal drip (he is very stuffy). Can that happen from that?  He finally ate a few bites of banana and a few bites of the bread again.  It is all he will eat.

Great news on your night.  We had usual insomnia routine around 1am :(

We get food refusal with teeth BUT gagging with tonsillitis (DS had it 5 times in last year and this is usually first sign for us)  Has he got a temp or off colour any other way?

Not settling to sleep straight away for us = UT but I know for most it is OT.  However, if he did a 12hr night then you can probably do a 5.75/6 hr A time before nap do you think and then depending on how long he sleeps you should be able to get a slightly later bed time anyway?

The other thing is you could just set the bedtime and hope he starts to accept it and sleep in the morning the same?  Our DS tends to wake a similiar time each morning, regardless of bedtime (which is pretty set within 30mins) and regardless of any insomnia episodes he has!!!

Laura, I am sorry your LO still didn't sleep.  I hope today went better.

Today went like this for us:
wake - 6:30
nap- 12:20-3
Bed??? I know I should aim for 8, but with my early bird I am not sure.  If I aim for 7:30, couldn't I get an UT EW too?

What a nap... Blimey!!!!  Way to go!  It's long A time knackering him!

Yes we do and have done when we've had a mammoth nap.  It's completely up to you - go with what you think is right.  I'm not keen on past 7pm bedtime cos of our wake up time but you've been desperate for a later bed and the 7.30 thing didn't work before...

Sorry not help am I?!

We don't get EWs from UT, instead we get midnight parties!

Great nap today, looks like nearing 6ish hours is the way to go.  I do think that with that kind of a nap, if he is low sleep needs, you won't get a very long night and I would be hesitant to go for anything earlier than 8pm.  But maybe that is the key that we have been missing - maybe he needs a good long morning A time and a shorter afternoon one?
I mean, we are the opposite here - I can get DS down at 4.5 - 5 hours if I have to, but today I woke him at 230 and he still wasn't asleep until 8pm, which is a rarity, but he does prefer a nap quite early in the day and then a long time till bed. So could just be the opposite for your LO. I think you won't know until you try, right? I suppose in the end it comes down to keeping your eye on him and putting him to bed when he seems tired and seeing how it plays out tonight?

My LO slept 8-6.  Not surprising, given the long nap yesterday.  I guess that means that I should have woken him?  I just knew he wasn't feeling well and wanted him to sleep.  Was that a bad idea?

I spoke with DH last night around 7 and he said that he was fading.  But when I got home at 8, DH said he didn't put him in his crib until 7:45.  I don't know if that was an issue of DH being very slow to get him ready for bed (DH takes 2x as long to do anything) or my LO getting a 2nd wind.  He didn't fall asleep until 8 though.

Never a dull moment with my LO.  He slept 50 minutes (if that - he was moving around and unsettled the whole time) then stood up and laid back down for another 10 minutes and was done.  I didn't give him any pain meds today and i am wondering if that made a difference.  So bed at 6 again.  Even that is long, with a 5 hour A.

Sounds like discomfort of some sort - how's his tummy / reflux / other GI issues been recently?
