« on: December 07, 2009, 18:40:38 pm »
my LO seems to be eating less and only gets hungry after 3.5 hrs since the last feed should I try to get her back to the 3 hour easy or stick to it? I am still cluster feeding at 6:30 and 8:30 and df at 11 or so she sleeps from 8:50 to 6:40 she then sleeps to 10:20 another feed at 1:50 and so on. What should I do???

Hello, Im not an expert but can offer a bit of advice from experience... my LO is turning 14weeks this week(3months & one week). He also started eating every 3.5-4 hours a couple of weeks ago which ive now accepted as  his natural transision and give him food every 3.5-4 hours depending on when he wakes up from his naps etc. Its working great as he is eating full bottles. The naps vary every day and one day he sleeps as he did on 3 hours EASY while the next he takes two 2hours naps and the cat nap... so i just see it day by day and hopefully it will all continue to happen naturally and by 4months we ll be on a solid 4hours routine.
As far as food he now only wakes once a night for food during the 12 hours of sleep.
How much does he eat at 1.50am? As this should be the firs feed to be "removed"?
For us it happend naturally once i took the amount of what he used to eat at 2am(in our case) and gave him that amount during the day, i increased every feed a little bit (not given him an extra feed).
And that he is holding food for longer time than before he sleeps longer streches during the night going 8hours sometimes but mostly 6 hours straight:-)
I recommend for you to try giving him more during the day so you can get longer streches during the night, im sure you need it:-)
Good luck!

I guess I should have added AM and PM lol
she eats at 8:30 PM and sleeps until 6:40 AM then eats at 10:20 AM and 1:50 PM now my grey zone will be the PM since she will eat at 5  she doesn't wake up to eat at 2 AM anymore since she started taking the dream feed (that took sometime), but I am just worried that today she will eat too many cluster feeds.... or should I take away one feed and see how it goes?
thank you so much for your advice it's good to know that some babies start eating less earlier I am just so wrried with the milk production and not having enough because she is eating less! that is my tricky part as I am BF! sorry if I sound crazy it's just I don't want to mess up her sleeping schedule!

lol my bad;-) THAT IS SO AMAZING that she sleeps through the night tho! Lucky you:-) i cant wait to get there... but at the same time i cant belive we are already with just one feed during the whole night so im thankful:-)
AND NO you do not sound crazy at all, i would be wondering the same thing as i was you.... so are you ready for the advice?? LOL
"Why fix it if it aint broke"?;-) Thats what Tracy writes... and its so true.. the baby is sleeping well and eating well so i think you should just cointinue doing what you do. Its by 4 hours EASY that Tracy recommends in her book to stop clusterfeeding (only cluster feed during the growth spurts) and continue the dream feed. Of course you could try one night to see what happens just be aware there is a growth spurt right around the corner when they turn 3 months. We are having ours now:-) (I think!;-))
Also as far as the BF, i lost my milk by his 4th week but i think that by now in your case the milk production adjust its self with the babies needs... and here i think you should follow your heart:-)
Keep up the great work!
