10 weeks ols and sleeping for too long during the day?
« on: December 09, 2009, 18:14:04 pm »
Hi There,

My little girl is 10 weeks old and weighs 14 - 15 lbs.

Here is our schedule at the moment:
E - 7 am
A -
S - 8 am to 11 am

E - 11 am
A
S - 12 to 3 pm

E - 3 pm
A
S - 4 to 5.30
A - bath at 6 - 6.30
E - 7 pm
S - bed 7.30pm

E - 11 pm Dream Feed.

She then wakes at about 5 am - but doesn't seem hungry because she will go back to sleep until 7 am with the dummy.

My question is whether she is sleeping too much during the day? I try to keep her awake as much as possible - but when I see her yawn I put her down for a nap. Do you think that she is waking up at 5 because she is getting too much sleep during the day? If so how do I keep her awake for longer without her getting over tired?

Hey, im not an expert but at this age my LO slept 3 naps and a cat nap, naps being somewhere between 1.5-2hours.  I know waking up babies is not recomened usually but i think i read in Tracys book that babies shouldnt be sleeping longer than 2hours nap during the day or this may rub on their night sleep.... So instead of extending her A time maybe shortening her S time? Or just wait for someone else to reply too, maybe they have a better advice to give:-)
