Off Schedule--what to do
«

my baby was on a 3 hour schedule where he would wake up around 6 for his first feeding. He has for the past few weeks been waking up at 4am for this feeding. What do I do to get him back on track? Do I try to delay him from eating for 2 more hours or do I feed him at 4 and then again at 6am to keep the schedule.
He is almost 4 months old. He was going great sleeping the night but now wakes more frequently and has to be resettled.
Let me know what you think!
Thanks,
Casey- New Mom

Hi there, could you please post your routine. At 4 mths he could be ready to move to a 4 hr EASY - also there is a growth spurt at 4 mths so he will likely be eating more, if he's hungry I wouldn't try to delay feeding him.

This is my schedule or the way I would like it to be
Eat 6am
Activity 6-9 Little catnap somewhere in there- usually on morning walk
E 9am
A 9-10ish
S10ish-11:30
E 12
A 12-2ish
S 2-3
E 3
A 3-4:45
S 5-6pm
E 6pm
A- Bath and play alittle
S maybe a catnap
E 8pm
S Bed around 8:30
We have tried the dreamfeed around 10:30/11 sometimes he'll take it sometimes not. It doesn't seem to make that much of a difference because whether he gets it or not he has still been waking at 4am or earlier to eat.
If he wakes before 4 to eat I feed him again at 6. If he wakes after 4am to eat then I do not feed him at 6 and feed him as close to 9 as possible to get back on track.
He has been waking at night more as well. Whereas he used to sleep straight through with no crying in the night.
Now he wakes several times and I just shh him alittle and put the pacifer in. Sometimes it works sometimes not. I feel like our nights are restless.

I would try to start transitioning him to a 4 hour EASY. It's possible that he is experiencing his 4 month growth spurt, but I think the main contributing factor is that he's outgrown the 3h EASY. Here are some links to help guide you through the transition:

Or if he can't handle 15 minute jumps in A time without becoming OT, try this:

Keep us posted on how that works out for you
