And at maybe tell MIL bedtime is half an hour before you actually need it to be ;)

Good idea Shiv...why have I never thought of that before  ::)

Can you tell I have lots of bold babysitters who like to keep Maeve up to play with her.   This way they 'feel' they are having extra time but she's still in bed at a reasonable time!  Sneaky..yes!  But sometimes needed!

Hope he slept well!

I'm all for sneaky if it gets the kids in bed on time!!! We don't get the IL's to babysit very often, cause invariably my MIL tries to rock Spencer to sleep and leaves a light on in her room. Then, Spencer figures I should do the same!

7:15 isn't too bad, hope he slept well for you!

Haha. MIL insists on rocking DS to sleep as well.

No such luck last night. Turns out he has an awful cold. He woke up about 30 mins after I got home,  sniffling and coughing. Poor guy. He had a hard time settling last night bc it was so hard for him to breathe and suck on his paci - but he still wanted his paci :)

I'm not sure what to do today as far as timing bc I'm sure he's exhausted. Do I put him to bed earlier? I really would like to stick to the one nap thing if possible - I feel he doesn't do well going back and forth between one and two naps. Consistency is key with him. He woke at 6:15am this morning.

Must be a MIL thing!

Last time Spencer was sick (it was pretty bad tonsillitis) she went back to 2 naps for the first time ever, was sleeping 20 out of 24 hours a day! But, if she just has a cold it usually doesn't affect our routine too much, maybe just a bit longer nap or a sleep-in. She's a thumbsucker and always gets mad when she's stuffed up - can't suck and breathe at the same time. We use a saline mist to clear out her sinuses, she hates it, but it works.

Hope he feels better soon  :-*

Put DS down for his nap at 11:40 and he woke up at 1:00pm. Poor guy is definitely PT today. I should have given him 2 naps.

Can I use wake to sleep on a 1 hr 20 min nap? Seems to be his classic OT nap.

I'm shooting for a 6:15 bedtime. I'm scared to do any earlier!

He actually handled it better than I expected. Coughed a bit of junk up and had a runny nose. He was beyond tired today - had black circles under his eyes. If tonight doesn't go well again, I'm going for 2 naps tomorrow.

I might try W2S and see what happens :) can't hurt to try anymore!

Thanks for asking about the little guy!

Awh how is the poor wee man?

How'd the night go?  Typical they get sick when you are on a roll getting to one nap.

If he'll take 2 naps today I'd go for it too.

Last night was rough. I maybe totalled an hour or two of sleep - which means so did he :( His cough is getting worse (so sad to hear) and most of the night we couldn't do much to console him but let him cry in our arms.

Interesting that babies would get sick when trasitioning - but it makes sense!

Today is definitely 2 naps. Should I put a time limit on the first nap? put him down earlier than usual? Keep A times shorter? I just want to make sure he takes two... But also want him to get rest. He got up at 6:45am.

Shiv, what type of schedule would you do today (if you were me)?

Aren't they always keeping us on our toes! Oh, how I used to think all babies slept well all the time. My days before becomming a mother were ignorantly blissful :)

If he was up at 6.45am, I'd probably aim for a nap about 10.15/10.30 (so about 3.5/3.75 hours A time) as he may not handle his new A time given the nights sleep he had.  Easier like this:

6.45 Up
10.15/10.30  Nap
12.30-12.45 Awake
3.45/4pm Nap  (for 45 mins-1 hour)
7/7.30pm Bed

Although I think you'll have to judge that first A time, if he can't make it that long, do earlier nap and still let him sleep until 12.30/12.45.

How does that sound?

Just watch him incase he's very tired because he's sick.  Have you his cot elevated a bit, can really help with breathing when they are all congested.  We've had weeks of restless sleep here with a very bad cough so totally know how you feel.

Today's naps went like this:

A: 6:45am
S: 10:20-11:30 (woke up on his own, a little fussy)
S: 3:20-4:20 (I had to wake him up)

It took him a long time to fall asleep for his second nap. Tried for probably 45 mins before he fell asleep. Im going to shoot for a 7:45 bedtime. I hope that gives him enough A time!

What do you all think?

It's 8:00 and he's finally in bed. Hopefully sleeping soon. Crossing my fingers for a better night.

I gave him motrin although I don't think that will help much with the cough or runny nose. But hopefully help any other discomfort he has.
