9 month old waking up by screaming in the night!!!
« on: December 23, 2009, 18:44:39 pm »
Hello,

I'm new to this forum so I'm sorry if someone has already asked my questions. My daugher is 9 months old and has slept through the night from about 2 weeks old until around 6 months. She has always gone to bed late, usually around 10 PM but would sleep until 10AM. Slowly she started getting up earlier but was still staying asleep through the night. Not much of a consistent napper during the day. We've tried to put her to sleep earlier in the evening but she just never seemed tired. For the past 3 months her schedule has looked like:

Bath - 8:30 PM, Breastfeed - 9PM, Asleep by 9:20PM, move her to her crib after she is asleep, Wake-up crying midnight, nurse to sooth her back to sleep,Wake-up 3AM - screaming, won't nurse, won't lay in bed with us, will only settle if we get up with her and sit on the couch, up for 1-2 hours, wake-up crying 6AM will nurse back to sleep then wake up happy at 8:30 AM. Eats breakfast, play time then starts rubbing her eyes at 11AM usually goes for a 1-1.5 hr nap, wake up happy & has lunch, Play time until she ges tired again around 3-3:30 and sleeps usually 1 hr. I nurse her at wakeup, 2x naps, evening and bedtime. She won't take a bottle. She screams when we put her in her crib but we are trying to not let her sleep with us.

HELP!!!!

Hi there, it sounds a bit OT but need to see whole routine and A times, could you post your routine like EAS. At 9 mths A time is between 3 - 4 hours depending on your LO and depending on their level of milestones and/or teething.  Do you know how many hours of sleep she gets in a 24 hr period?  What's her norm?  Most LO's at this age are on ~14 hours, about 2- 3 hrs from naps and 11 - 12 at night.

Has she ever been an independent sleeper?  It looks like perhaps the nursing might be a bit of a prop/sleep association for her now.  If you are nursing her to sleep and then moving her once she is asleep she might have difficulty going back to sleep on her own.
The tweaking never stops!
