Is this routine fine?
« on: December 27, 2009, 22:25:15 pm »
My lo is not the greatest eater and some days it is impossible to get her to eat anything.  Today was the first day we did one nap and am wondering if today's routine is fine:

Surprisingly, she ate more than usual today

wake up 7:30am
bottle 7oz
BF 9am yogurt + cheerios
lunch 11:30am: finger size sandwich + blueberries+4  pretzel sticks+ raisins
nap 12-3pm
snack: only wanted a mum mum, spat out the orange
Dinner 5pm: bite of chicken+ 2 potato wedges + piece of carrot+ fish crackers + 5 craisins + 2 animal cookies.
bottle 6:45pm usually around 10 ozs
bedtime: we are aiming for 7:15pm bedtime as this is the first day of her doing a one nap.

Looks remarkably similar to the routine DS was on at that age (and sort of still is now with no nap), although we have an earlier dinner/bed.  And that really doesn't seem very much food.  Could she be filling up on the milk and then not wanting to eat, perhaps?

I do think milk is part of the problem.  To get her to eat sometimes can be such a challenge.   :-\  I have tried limiting her milk for a few days and that didn't help.  Her ped was not concerned and he said if she doesn't eat then substitute milk with formula.  I don't want her to rely on milk!
Her first molar is about to cut and another one is on its way. I wonder if that is contributing. I am always trying to find answers to her stubborn eating.  She won't even touch toast now.   Sigh!

Teething can impact big time with eating.  My LO eats like a horse but at the minute is getting back molars and is hardly eating anything and its so strange as normally she eats all day long.

If you are concerned about eating I would cut the morning bottle down or give breakfast first and earlier if you can fit that in.  So if breakfast was at 8 and then smaller amount of milk after and keep lunch the same time she would probably be hungrier at lunch.

I wouldn't touch the bedtime bottle though for fear it would disrupt her sleep!
