Help!!!! 22 months old not eating at all!!!
« on: December 28, 2009, 13:25:54 pm »
Hi all,

I really need your help!
My son, normally would eat really fine, but since the past three days, he is not eating at all. He is not sick, no teeth coming out nothing! I know he is not sick, as if I give him sweet things he will eat them, but of course he can not be fed just with chocolate!
I'm really desperate and don't know what to do. I have offer him lots of different things and he just doesn't want them.
Is this normal? anyone had the same experience?

Ah, in the morning and evening he will drink his milk.

Thanks for your replies.

TBH--the less you stress the more likely he is to take up eating again. IF he is truly not sick with anything and just sort of testing his independence you can try to offer him food at his regular meal/snack times and if he does not take them, let him back down out of his chair and try again the next feeding time.

I wouldn't jump through hoops offering him tons of things...just something you know he's eaten and liked in the past. If you want you can always have a back up food that you know he'll eat but probably only that one thing and something simple...like crackers and cheese or something fast and easy that you can get out quickly.

If after a couple of days he still will only drink milk and is refusing food I might check to see about a throat infection or other illness that might not be causing him to behave sickly but might make eating not pleasant except for cool/soothing milk and of course sweets are just too hard to resist. Once he realizes he is not going to get sweets all the time he'll probably start eating again. If you offer him a lot of things he may find it funny that he has such control over mommy and keep you guessing and guessing b/c he can.

HTH.

I echo Nicole's suggestions-she sounds spot on.  Good luck.
