6 MO DD waking every 2 hours... 2BMs a night
« on: January 16, 2010, 13:18:50 pm »
I'm desperate for some help!  My DD is waking every 2 hours and as the night goes on she gets harder and harder to settle.  At least twice a night she has a dirty diaper (in addition to at least 2 during the day).   We've started solids (cereal, fruits and veg) and she gets both EBM and formula.  Has anyone ever dealt with all the poop at night?
I'm desperately seeking REM....

I wonder if the solids have something to do with those pesky night bms.  When do you feed fruits?  My ds ADORES peaches, so we gave them to him for dessert after his supper.  After a couple days we started noticing that he was waking up around 4am and pooping ::)  It took us about a week to make the connection, but once we stopped most fruits at supper time our problem cleared up.

Peaches, prunes, pears, and apricots are really laxative fruits, so now we try to keep them to breakfast and lunch.  Bananas and applesauce are actually more constipating, so we save those for his dessert at dinner time and we very rarely have night time bms now.

hth :)

Interestingly we gave fruit to our LO as dessert last night and had a BM at 4am too! :(

Here is a typical Routine

7:00am wake, 3-4oz of formula or EBM (we try to get her to drink more, but she refuses)
8:00am cereal and fruit
9:00am sleep for 1 hour (we try and try to get her to sleep longer...but not much luck...its tough with a demanding 3 year old running around)
11:00am 3-4 oz of formula or EBM, cereal and fruit or veg
12:00pm sleep for 1 hour
3:00pm 3-4 oz of formula or EBM
5:00pm sleep for 45 min - 1 hour
6:00pm cereal and veg
8:00pm 3-4 oz of formula or EBM
8:30pm sleep
11:00pm dream feed usually takes no more than 2 oz.

she's pretty tiny, only 13 lbs at 6 months.  We try to get her to drink more, but nothing works. I didn't give her fruit last night before bed, and she didn't poop during the night, but was up every hour from 12-3am, I put her on her tummy at 3 and she slept until 5, woke crying, settled her and she slept until 6:30.Pooped twice before 7:30.

No, she wasn't early, right on time actually.  She was 6.12 when she was born and she continues to gain, just really slowly.  We're on our way to the drs now for a check up, maybe the doc will have some answers...
