I know :(
And I know that letting him sleep didn't fix everything either. :(

I just wanted you to know that we've hit this really weird period with sleep, with Lyle giving me some 11 hour nights.
I think you know Lyle well enough to know that he has never really given me many 11 hour nights.

He just seems to be going through a more sleepy phase, and all I know of that is going on that is different is teething. I haven't been medicating every day. Only if he is super fussy or something.

They just seem to change so much, so quickly that we can't keep track of it all :(

Sorry, huge hugs.
when was wake up this morning?

6.45 this morning, which isn't bad BUT there was a 45 mins NW. So less than 12 hours sleep in the last 24.

Oh, I feel silly now, you already posted that, sorry.

We were stuck at 11.5 until I just threw in the towel and decided I was going to stop trying to manipulate his sleep. The first thing I did was one day when he only took a 1h10m nap I put him to bed at 6:45 that night. That has never ever worked for Lyle before, and sure enough, the next day he slept in. I guess he was just so tired. And then, that day I thought for sure I would get a nap refusal that day because he slept so much at night, but he went down for his nap after a shorter A time then normal and slept 2 hours.

My gut just says he's in an OT loop again because of the SA when daddy was gone. And I say that because there are lots of days when he only gets 1 hour of day sleep, and you are still having hard nights.
Are you still doing an earlier bedtime on nursery days when he only naps an hour?
I've been trying to keep that last A time to no more than 5.5, every now and then it will be more, but not several days in a row. That seems to build up the OT.

Could be. But I've fallen down that hole before, letting him take long naps - I mean, Brad has been back since Friday and he wasn't sleeping badly the whole time he was away, just 3 or 4 bad nights. I'm going to give this short nap/early bed combo a try until Sunday, then review. I know I am definitely guilty of chopping and changing tactics every other night!

Good luck. I think that is a fair amount of time to give it a go.

He was REALLY crabby (tired) after nursery today, out like a light at 7pm. Gave him Calpol as very red cheeks. Fingers crossed for no NWs...

Good luck.

Do you think pushing his nap later would help? I may have mentioned that before, but if he is getting to the age of cutting down, maybe starting later and ending around where it normally ends would help him not be so tired by bedtime therefore less likely to have OT NWs? Maybe a 1 or 1:15 nap as opposed to 12:30 and still doing the 45 min. thing?

I dunno Nicole. On nursery days, he really has to have his nap at 12.30, that's when all the bigger kids sleep. In principle they will let him have his nap whenever I ask, but realistically I can't see him being happy leaving all his friends.

Good point....I understand how it is. Just know that pushing DD's nap later usually helped with EWs as long as they weren't OT related. Hope cutting his naps in general help. Otherwise you know we'll all be here brainstorming with you!

5.30 this morning :(

I thought for sure he would go back to sleep with a little AP but no (and the AP has prob messed up bedtime for tonight).

Thinking I should try for an even earlier bedtime tonight - but am likely to have to work late :(

Today has been wonky. Up at 5.30am. Slept 1.5hrs at nursery (even though I asked them not to let him go more than an hr). BUT after nursery he was SO tired and SO crabby (and I am also SO tired and SO crabby) I couldn't stand the whining and crying any more so I put him to bed early. Down with no fuss at 6.45am. *shrugs* I have no idea.

So there's this other thing - the morning clock which tells him when it's time to wake up. It seems like he's incapable. I don't know whether I should try to push it, let him cry until 6.30am (which IS what we did before xmas, and it did work), try and show him how to play when he wakes earlier, sit on the landing outside his bedroom but insist he stay in bed lying down until 6.30...?

I don't know. What do you think? I'm fully expecting him to wake up before 6 tomorrow and just really unsure how I should handle it.
