Yes the whole CN dance is really annoying!  I can't wait to be rid of it!  I'm with you on having to APOP it, which takes all my time, and I'm sure with DD that it's next to impossible.

Good to have company in this non-STTN club!  ::)  I'm glad you're not giving up.  I wont either.   :D  I told DS that he's pretty darn cute so I guess he can stay.  For now. Heehee.

Glad to have found some support here - thank you.  Well, my "going with his cues" day yesterday resulted in the worst night we've had since he was about 8 weeks old.  4 NWs and an EW of 5:20am.  I APOP'd him till 6:45am, so...we shall see how today goes.  I am going to see if I can get to an A time of 2:30.  I will read through your other thread when I have more than 2 seconds!  HA.

To make matters OH SO MORE DIFFICULT for me, my LO was STTN.  And then all of a sudden when he grew out of the 3 hr EASY - we went to one NW - which wasn't bad at all.  So this EW is pretty new - I'd say for about 2 weeks now.  We seems to be slipping backwards, which is really frustrating.

Fingers crossed for today.  And a deep breath.  Elijah is an angel baby, so maybe he'll surprise me :)

Thanks...I will post today's EASY tonight - I don't think you want to see yesterday's train wreck.  Ha ha.

Wow ladies, I'm glad you've all found some great support and similar experiences here!  Sometimes the best way to work through problems is with those who are going through it at the same time.

Melinda, sorry you didn't feel at the moment like your other threads had yielded too many results.  Happy you've found some help here though!!  I was going to say, if you still feel like you need some extra eyes on your routine I would suggest another post, either here in Naps or again on EASY, and I would be happy to have a look over there for you.  Let me know if you need help getting going on one.  In the meantine, hope you're getting some good ideas from these other ladies.  :)

Elf, how are things going with you today?

I think you're doing a great job troubleshooting with eachother.  In fact, you're probably the best people to help eachother because like I said, you're in very similar situations.  So I'll be here following along if you have any questions, otherwise great work with the support!!  :)

Thanks, Martina.  The other threads helped tremendously - but it seemed like everything we tried caused something else to go wonky. Ha ha.  I felt like maybe I should take a break from tweaking and go with the flow for awhile.  So that's what we agreed on the thread - and then the last 2 days have been horrific!  So I'm back...

We'll see how today, with the pushed A times goes.  I'll post on the naps board if I don't have any luck in the next couple days.

Ladies, can I ask another ? - Are your LOs fussier these days?  And what A time activities have you found helpful?

Thanks!
Melinda

Yes this whole tweaking thing can definitely have a snowball effect!  I also tried the 'go with the flow' theory at one point and just got madness.  I think structure does a lot for my guy.

Keep us posted on how the longer A times work for you.

My LO is almost never fussy.  He's a super happy baby, just doesn't like to sleep at night, which doesn't always make for a super happy mama!  LOL! During A times we hang out on a blanket on the floor (practicing sitting) and play with different soft rattle toys a lot, tummy time, he's in his exersaucer for 15-20min at a time in the kitchen while I'm doing dishes or cooking, we read books, do baby yoga, and sometimes he just hangs out and chews on things watching me while I clean or do whatever else I need to be doing.  (Sometimes I feel bad when I realized it's almost time for another nap and we've hardly played at all!)

Kate - thanks.  That sounds like how Elijah has been all his wee little life - until the last 3 weeks or so.  He's been SO SO fussy.  I actually made a doctor's appt for Monday b/c I don't feel like it's normal and he's all of a sudden spitting up larger quantities.  I feel like I need to rule out anything medical.  He used to be able to play by himself for 15-20 minutes and now he goes 2-3 and then wants me to move him, play with him, entertain him...I'm just not used to this behavior, but I guess I thought maybe he was in a GS or going through a phase...now that it's been 3 weeks, I'm not so sure.  I'm not getting ANYTHING done!  HA.  I appreciate sharing your A time activities with me :)

Melinda, I don't want to get off topic so I'm sure this can be explored elsewhere too, but I do want to ask if you LO has ever had reflux?  I don't have much reflux knowledge but I do think there's such thing as silent reflux which may have gone undiagnosed, and perhaps it is flaring up now.  I think you mentioned your DS was 3wks early too?  Just something to think about...if you have more questions you could always see what the reflux boards have to offer.  The mommies over there have so much more experience with it than I do!

I was going to say sounds reflux-y to me too.  I'm glad you have a pedi appt, hopefully they'll shed some light on it.  It's no good when a happy, healthy LO is now crabby all the time!  :-[

I know - I am thinking silent reflux as well - I actually moved up my appt. to this afternoon!  I spoke with my doctor about it 2 weeks ago over the phone and he didn't think it was reflux.  Oh, how I wish I had trusted myself!  I may post on the reflux board right now!  Thanks.

Again, probably best left to the reflux boards, but Melinda if you think something is up but your ped isn't taking it seriously, don't be afraid to ask another for a second opinion.  I think reflux often gets dismissed easily.  Good luck :)

Let us know how the appt goes.

Do you have a baby carrier?  That helps when they're fussy and refuse to be put down!   :D

Thanks, ladies - I will let you know!  After an A time of 2:31 he did a 1:21 nap - so - better.  Do you think I should push to 2:35?

Just wanted to pop in and offer hugs - Melinda, Kate I know it's been a long hard road.  I remember it all too well.
I just wanted to also encourage you to support each other here too:
http://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=156696.0

It hasn't seen much action but it's a good place to talk about this very specific issue and maybe compare routines and what works, what doesn't etc.  There are probably lots of mums who maybe don't have their own posts or are wondering about this issue and could benefit from the help you are all giving each other here.

The tweaking never stops!

Oh Wendy, I was hoping you wouldn't see that I was back!  HA HA.  I did two days of our agreed "follow his cues and stop worrying so much" and my husband wanted to kill me b/c we had 4 NWs last night and the same 5:30 wake up.  I will pop over to the other thread - thanks - though I'm not ready to share any successes ;/
