down time for active 11 month boy

what are some good down time activities for an active baby? i can barely get him to sit still to read for a few minutes at bedtime, but i am trying to restructure his activity time, to rule out over stimulation. thanks!

How about flash cards with simple words? I have these real big and chunky ones, and been using them with my lo since she was about 3 months old.

Have u tried books with lift the flap, or different fabrics inside? Or word books with a picture of just one item on each page? At 11 months dd preferred these to story books.
