8 1/2 month old night wakings
« on: February 07, 2010, 03:25:02 am »
I'd love some suggestions on with my son's night wakings.

He wakes sometimes every 90 minutes to 2 hours, he cries and we go in to comfort him (sometimes he needs to be rearranged in the crib, others he just needs to be comforted) He will go back to sleep only to wake up again. He seems to still be asleep, even when he is crying. When picked up he immediately falls back asleep; however, I don't always pick him up, I sometimes just give him a giggle and he settles back down. On occasion, he falls back asleep on his own.

He goes to bed at around 8 pm and he wakes around 4:30 or 5 am to be breastfed. He is not fed during the night; and he doesn't seem to need/or be hungry. He goes to bed quite easily - he is put to bed in his crib awake and he often goes to sleep without even crying; but he will often wake up again 1 hour later.

He is not a long napper during the day - perhaps 3, 30-40 minute naps.

I know that the night wakings may have something to do with developmental milestones, teething (he is), or even the short naps. But, the other night he slept from around 9 pm to 5 pm - so he is capable.

Thanks very much.

HI there could you post your routine so we can take a look at the whole day.  Have you ever tried to get him taking longer naps?
The tweaking never stops!
