My 9 1/2 month of DS wakes every 45min to 2hours in the night
« on: February 08, 2010, 11:25:18 am »
I have just decided to start the EASY routine with my DS as he is waking almost every hour in the night.  I am just beginning and really am not sure where to start.  I am so confused and exhausted and just need some guidance and advice.  Our routine is as follows:

08h00 wakes up (sometimes I have to wake him up)
08h30 Breakfast
10h00/10h30 nap (can be anything from 45min to 1h30min)
11h30 Lunch
13h30 Milk or snack
14h00 nap (can be anything from 45min to 2hours)
15h30 Dinner (only because his nursery offer him dinner on a Wed at 15h30)
18h00 Snack while we eat dinner
18h30/19h00 bath, bottle (usually only 3oz)
19h30 bed
He then wakes up at about 20h30 for the other 4oz of his bottle.

Last night he woke up at 20h25, 21h00, 22h25, 23h30, 00h45, 02h45 - 03h30, 05h15 and I had to get him up at 08h15.  He usually cries and when I give him his dummy/pacifie he goes back to sleep but sometimes he takes 40min to 1hour to settle again.

I haven't had more than 2hours sleep for almost two months now and I am at my wits end....

Please can someone help?
Jess

It sounds like the dummy has become a bit of an issue.  Can he replug his dummy himself?  Have a look on the "props" board and see what you think....

Hi there Jess.....we have the same issue too.....i posted the thread 'OMG please help i'm exhausted'.  I just don't know what is best to do either.

We too have a dummy and the issue before was always having to replug but now, if DS can be bothered he'll replug himself but most nights doesn't.  I really don't see the dummy thing as the issue though because daytime naps are good and he doesn't wake every 45 mins in the day......so really its the nightime.  Is that what you are exoeriencing too???

Hi Tashavazak...

I did see your post and noticed our LO's sound similar.

He seems to sleep better in the day but sometimes wakes and needs his dummy.  My concern is what could be waking him in the first place.  Even if he is using his dummy as a prop what is causing him to wake ever hour.....how can I teach him to link his sleep cycles?

He can replug when he is awake but when he is drowsy he doesn't seem to know where to find his dummy...even when he has 4 in his cot.

Hi babybarr,

My DH and I are also concerned the dummy is now a prop but are not sure what to do about it.  I will look up "prop's" on the board....thanks

This can cause him to wake if he needs the dummy to go to sleep he'll wake to find it.  See how you go.
Good luck
