what happened?
« on: February 11, 2010, 11:07:24 am »
Hi
it seems like once you solve one sleep issue another one appears.....
my 5 months old has always slept between 19:00 and DF at 22:30 perfectly. we always used to say that it was our god sent gift - that no matter what day he had, he gives us those hours to collect ourselves....
on the occasions that he did wake up, he would self-settle within a minute or so.
unfortunately. like any good thing - it just had to come to an end.
over the last week or so he has been waking between 21:15 and 21:45 and is so very difficult to resettle, sometimes i give in and give him his feed at 22:15, awake.

what could be the reason for this?

His EASY is pretty much a typical 4 hour routine. this was yesterdays:
6:00E (spontaneous waking - usually 45 minutes later....)
6:20A
8:05S
10:05E
10:15A
12:20S (usually about 10 minutes earlier but waited for tired signs)
14:25E
14:40A
16:45S (tried to put down at 16:30 but he had difficulties settling....)
17:20 - wake
18:00E (always feed half an hour early after catnap - he becomes hungrier sooner)
19:10S (had difficulties going down - which is new as well...)
woke up at 21:15 took almost 40 minutes to resettle back to sleep.

any ideas?
i don't think its time to drop the catnap - he does show tired signs. also - we have just stretched his A time a bit to lengthen naps which were becoming shorter.
I have no idea what else to try....
Thanks

Hey Jane, thanks for that
I think you might be right, on days that i saw that he could handle a bit more A time, it appeared that his night times were better. also, i don't know if it makes sense but also when i put him to sleep at 2 hours after a very calm 2 hour A he actually started sleeping less. wakes up after 1:30-1:40 but it never seemed like he woke tired. So intuitively to me that says - his brain can probably manage a bit more.
I'll give it a go - start with 2:05 - 2:15, depending on him.
Thanks.
