Do these "A" times make sense for my (almost) 8 month old?
« on: February 22, 2010, 19:52:04 pm »
Wondering if anyone has experienced the following:

My LO (8 mos in 10 days) has A times that are totally all across the board. We dropped the catnap about 3 weeks ago. For a while (about 2 weeks), she was sleeping great with 2 naps a day and great nights. It was so refreshing, since we've struggled with the short nap for months.

When our EASY was good, it would look like (A/S only):

6:30 - Awake
8:45 or 9 - S (1h30m or 1h45m)
10:15 or 10:30 - Awake
1:45 or 1:50 - S (1h30m or 1h45m)
3:30 - Awake
6:30 or 6:45 - Bed

Now, her afternoon nap has gone back to being short.

Her morning A time before her morning nap is about 2h30m (very short, I know). But she will almost always nap well in the morning - 1.5h to 2h. So possibly she is waking earlier than I think....or her early morning sleep is very light/fitful.

Her A time after her morning nap was 3h30m when she was having great afternoon naps. Now, she has started waking at the 30-40m mark again.

SOOOO, I'm pushing out her A time again - to 3h45m in the afternoon. This seems so long - and also, why would it be so different than her morning A time? Any ideas?

The first A of the day is usually the shortest A.

At 8 months average A time is 3-4h but keep in mind some los can go longer while others will be doing way less, my dd has always been on the shorter side of A.

How long has it been since u started increasing that second A? Have u seen any improvement in her nap? Keep in mind it can be a few days before u see any changes.

Hope this helps

Hi!  I can totally understand what you're going through...I won't go into a lot of detail, but the first  week and a half of starting my lo on EASY was great- just like your lo...now the tweaking begins to deal with early wakes from naps and night sleep...it's so hard to find just the right amount of activity time eh?  A daily challenge it seems!  Best wishes:-)
Cheers,
Dingoheid:-)
